5mil quid
No-resale value

That alone tells me NO.

Anichebe -- No kid now.
Jelavic -- Who knows?
Kone --Really better than either?

Martinez should be targeting a BETTER player than what we have who has a resale value and who can be developed.

OR wait and use Baines money.

i dont understand why everyone is so eager to say 'yeah, he's going to get us 10-15 goals a season for a few years' in regards to Kone. He's been here one season. But a ton of people are saying about Benteke or Michu 'watch them fall off a cliff in their second season'. Whats to say Kone wont have that same issue like Jelavic had? And then thats a fn waste of 5mil..

With Benteke he's a beast, he improved nk end over the season and is still young. Amazing player....michu was far superior to kone last season but similar age..

I think michu and kone will both be awful next season myself....

One hit wonder michu + kone will fail badly with us and we will have done 5mil and wages on someone who scored a few goals for a relegated side.

Much rather gamble on a young kid

More ambitious than signing an average forward.

I would say a player hits his peak around 27-29 so you could argue we are getting him at his best. every player you buy doesnt have to have resale value.

Interested in why you think this or is it just on a whim

So he's at his best now you reckon and downhill from there I would say....not a long way to drop either.

Every player everton sign for hard cash absolutely must have resale value.

you don't hit your peak for a couple of hours then go down hill, i dont know how old you are but you can still run around at 30. Not every player needs a resale value, sometimes you need experience especially in the centre forward position.

To an extent, as long as the players we do sell make a profit, we can afford not to make a profit on some quality players. Cahill and Distin for example easily paid for their fee's by the increased prize money we received by finishing further up the league, in no small part because of these guys. If a 5mil, 30 year old came, destroyed all and his goals meant the difference between 8th and CL, he will of paid for himself in one season and then some.
Having said that I doubt Kone is such a person.
