The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

Right i've been away for the past week and haven't been keeping tabs on whats coming and going with Everton. But whats the generaly consensus on Alcaraz?

He's a Paraguayan national team centre half, better than Neville, back up to Jags and Distin and on a free.........for those reasons, I am in.

Anyone who objects to this deal needs to seriously stop taking anti depressants.

I don't understand why people are so adamant that getting a younger player with 'potential' is a better signing than Kone. WE DON'T NEED POTENTIAL, WE NEED GOALS.

I would much rather have a striker who is pacey, strong, knows where the net is, knows the league, knows the manager and won't need time to settle in (I still think we will bring in another first team striker but just using examples) rather than a kid who may not have experience in the league, will have to adjust to lifestyle, may know where the net is, needs to adjust to the physical pace of the league and most of all get to know the managers tactics.

We don't need a young striker who will come good after 2-3 years getting used to the team, we need someone who can score us goals now as we are on the cusp of taking ourselves to the next level. Those also saying Mirallas cost less, those deals don't come often.

As i said only a couple of pages ago, stop moaning about the deal before he has even kicked a ball. If he is gash then your free to say he is **** and it was a bad transfer, i will probably join in. But if he scores 15-20 goals am pretty sure many will deny that they ever doubted Martinez. Wait until the end of the season you bad negative ninnies.

Right.

I'm starting to wonder if some Evertonians have ever been in a transfer window before.

It's all very well getting worried, and having a panic but really there is no need to right now.

What exacty has happened? Nothing. No players in. The only players out were utter tripe.

If someone is telling me that Kone, Alcaraz and McGeady aren't better than Neville, Hitzelsperger and probably Heitinga then OK MATE.

But the fact remains nothing has happened. Not a ball has been kicked.

Look around what teams have actually done business that you are jealous of? Liverpool? nah. Norwich? A striker with a funny name who Sporting Lisbon weren't arsed about losing - nah. Man United?! Nah.

The names we've been linked with, may mean jack. They may mean something. They may feel underwhelming. But I tell you this, Roberto Martinez knows more about football than you.

I say this and mean it. If James McCarthy joins Everton then so be it. Mr Martinez knows more than me.

There was once one boss summer where we bought early. It was lovely. None of this panic.

But it's not the way it works usually.

And this summer has one very big difference. A brand spanking new manager. Yesterday was his first day proper. And yet people seem to be devastated he didn't sign anyone. On Day one. Have a word. He hasn't even got his mates around yet. And going from various media sources a load of the players aren't even back yet. (Wednesday I beleive).

All i'm asking for is a bit of calm.

There may well be time for panic. But that time isn't for now. Let us lose 2-0 at home to West Brom. Or concede a terrible late equaliser against Palace first.

That's when i'll be worried.

Ijjy with the Chico-style post.
I do agree with the sentiment btw

At least Tom Ince is young and could improve. West Ham have bid £10m for Bony

Kevin Phillips on radio this morning saying that Ince is a better all round player & finisher than Zaha, he was surprised not going to a top club.

If we are in for him, it could be a great signing and allow Miralles to move up front, meaning the our pool of strikers are Kone, Miralles, Jelavic & Anichebe. Which gives us more depth & quality than last year.

This. POW.

Same every season. Don't know what all the fuss is about - we did little business of note by this time last year.

Everyone wanked about Naismith, now they hate him.
Super Kev didn't sign til later on - that was a saga and a half( no inkling of that until it broke on here !)
Oviedo - lastminute.com (still no clue what sort of a player he is/might be)

Guess we should be patient and watch this space - need some coaches by tomorrow surely, with Holden joining Weir, Round and LUmsden going, not just playing staff that is thin on the ground.

Is he better than Heitinga though because realistically that's who he'll be replacing?

Not bad. 31 at the end of the month and had an injury struck season. Won't add anything to the current team except more depth. But i'd rather see faith placed on Duffy.

It still kills me to see this £5-6m fee touted for Kone. We are certain to sign him. Not a bit happy with this. A lot of money spent on an old, average striker. He is going to cost as much as Mirallas did!
