I think David Villa would be a great singning! But the problem is the 14M-transfer fee and I don't think that these rumours about Villa are true.

As squad players thats fine, but if we're spending £5m on Kone he wont be a squad player.

Yup, I think he is more than a decent player, and Alcaraz would be our third best CB. For a combined £5 million. And people are distraught.

I think it shows how much we're struggling as a club compared to where we should be when our main competitors are all strengthening and we're trying to justify why we're probably going to buy 2 or 3 journeymen players who the same rivals wouldn't look at. Spurs looking at signing brazilian internationals to improve their side and linked with some of the most highly rated youth players in Europe.

We need to look for younger players who could become great ones, not older players who might contribute but will never take us to the next level. Many won't agree but if we're going to sell Baines and Fellaini then i'd rather the funds be spent purely on promising youth under the age of 23 and build around these and Barkley etc. We might struggle for a couple of seasons but have the potential to then move forward rather than just competing for 6th, 7th or 8th

He's not **** but by the same token I would rather Martinez attempt to help Jelavic rediscover the form of a season and a half ago, as that player would be far more valuable - in every sense - than Kone.
