Don't be a div.By putting in a bid for a striker, you come to the conclusion that Heitinga is about to be sold without a replacement and blame the stupidity of the board for allowing this to happen? Can I have a 1/4 gram of what you're having?
We ALL know it is sell to buy, aside from those deluded enough to (still) believe anything that comes out of Kenwright's mouth.
So with that in mind, who do we sell to get the 5m for Kone?
Do we...
a. Sell a midfielder / striker to sign the striker?
b. Sell the defender, spend all the money on a striker and go into the season with two recognised centre backs?
Simple as that isn't it?
Well not really.
a. A significant player (Baines or Fellaini) is on his way out.
b. The board is that stupid that they'd sell Heitinga without having a replacement lined up.
They're our only sellable assets. Nobody else would generate any money. Nobody is gonna pay 10m for Barkley, Jagielka will be staying for probably the rest of his career, Howard isn't worth a carrot, Jelavic and Anichebe are worth a fiver a pop. Mirallas would fetch a bit, but he won't leave for another few seasons at least.
Other teams use new managers to make a statement of intent with their signings. We end up with Alcatraz and Kone from relegated Wigan.
So relegated teams don't have good players? Jags is decent enough. Lescott from Championship, Cahill from Championship. Don't be so blinkered. Our squad is small and we paid for that last season. Our team is quite good and Kone can only be an improvement on our strikers. If we sell Felli or Baines then maybe we might see bigger names come in but with the likely budget available at this moment we cannot do much better than Kone or Alcaraz.

So does Kenny dalglish, but that doesn't mean he gets all of his signings right. Surely the forum exists to share our opinions on transfers etc.

Why are we all judging a signing before he's even kicked a ball for us?! Thought a lot would have learnt from the Gibson signing last January.
