Assuming I'm the Danish lad, everyone in Denmark think that Cardiff paid twice as much as they should. Cornelius is untried to say the least. He could end up being a super striker, but then again he could be the next Bendtner

Sorry mate, yes meant you.

I'd take your word over anyone's on players in the Danish league.

Just out of interest....if Kone played for us for 5 seasons and scored 50 goals for us before retiring (so no resale value whatsoever) is this a good deal or not?

Yes.

Much of the fear about Kone is his previous record. However, we have signed a few proven goalscorers before and they haven't delivered. Who knows whats going to happen? He's scored double figures in the Premier League with a team that was failing and not creating as many chances as we were. Can anyone say that Kone wouldn't have been able to put away at least some of those many easy chances that Jelavic and Victor had last year? It's a risk but one worth taking.

As for Alcaraz, I think he's also suffering in people's minds from playing with Wigan. I've always liked Wigan but some people seem to have this poor image of them. Granted, playing in their defence may not earn you many favours but that maybe down to the defence as a whole or your central defensive partner, you can't do it all yourself. He's never been singled out continuously for criticism, most feedback has been good. Some defenders don't look much at some teams but it takes a move to bring them out more. He's not a massive name, which doesn't get many fans excited naturally but just look at Jags, I know he was younger but not many got really excited about that one either and look how that turned out.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I don't even follow the league. I know next to nothing about the players there. Its only the players who have played for Denmark that I can judge.

RE: Cornelius, I would have been mad if EFC bought him for that amount. It's comparable with the fees the ****e spent on Downing and Henderson.

So many people are already getting so upset about our transfer activity, it's a bit ridiculous when we're barely into the window and Martinez has only been at work properly for 2 days!

I think the Kone situation depends very much on how much money we really have to spend. If we've got maybe £7m then let's be honest, we won't get anyone better than Kone considering that he's actually a decent player who had a good record for a terrible squad last season.

We've been screaming out for pace for years, now we're moaning about us going for a pacey striker? Forget about his age for a second, think about what he could offer us - a strong, quick player who can finish. Now let's think about who's in that similar bracket for type of striker, probably players like Hernandez (not as strong as Kone but can definitely handle himself) - could we bring him in for £5m? Or at all?

For me, if we've got over £10m, I'd like us to be going for it with Bony or Aubameyang. Both the real deal who offer different things but would probably cost similar amounts, and neither would cost upwards of £15m. This £15m is more than affordable, and the wages wouldn't be huge (thinking about the tax levels in France).

If I was Martinez, I'd go to Kenwright and tell him to get me Aubameyang one way or another. I actually think that bringing in both Kone and Aubameyang (guessing with the sale of Jelavic) would be a good move, potentially playing with a forward three of Mirallas, Kone, and Auba.

Imagine what them 3 could do to any team's defense?

Looks like Fellaini will be staying, the clubs that could afford the 'release clause' aren't interested in him.

I wanted to sell him for big cash that could be re-invested in the squad, but I'd prefer him to stay if the other alternative involves selling him for 18million on deadline day.

Swell thingy about Felli is that no matter if he stays or leaves it will be good
Still think he might jump to russia, hopefully not, though.
Arsenal still innit i quess

Honestly though people Martinez wasn't a big enough name, now Kone isn't good enough, yet we've cried out for attractive football and a pacey striker for how long?

But Martinez didn't get Wigan playing attractive football and Kone isn't that pacey.

If we have 7m? In January we had 9m for Fer and 12m for Negredo, so where has that gone? Compared to those two signings Kone doesn't cut it. I would far prefer the two signings mentioned than spreading what little money we have, on no more than squad players.

It's an odd one for me with Felli. Half of me would love him to stay and play in his preferred role where on his day he bosses the game, but then the other half is thinking that if we do sell Felli we can potentially strengthen the squad in areas that we need it. Without the Felli sale, names like Bony, Fer, Soldado, Aubameyang etc are impossible and nothing less than a dream.

I'm hoping that the transfer budget is for strengthening the squad. And then the Felli money is for signing a couple of Good players in the region of 10-15 mil each.

I don't even want to consider a timeline in which we lose Baines though.

That's how i see it. If this was the ideal window, Kone, Alcaraz and McGeady or Redmond would be great squad players, ones who can come off the bench and make an impact without having to sell any of our players, thus slightly sorting out our squad problems. Then if we sell Felli then big names such as Soldado/Bony/Aubameyang up front for about 10-15 mil and Fer for about 7 million will become available.

have you watched wigan ? i remember kone ripping hetinga and jagielka a new butt hole at the dw last season

I've watched Wigan. They let in 73 goals in 38 games and only scored 47. It might make their games attractive for neutrals but it isn't so great when your team are being hit for nearly 2 goals a game.

Kone did indeed have a very good game up against Heintinga. Doesn't mean he is worth spending all our transfer budget on.
