The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

People worried about Kone's age are forgetting a certain ex Arsenal player who now plays for United with many worried about his price tag potential injury and age. Obviously Kone and RVP are no comparison in terms of ability but I just think we should wait until he's given a chance. As seen with Jelavic many players struggle in their first season so if Kone has another good season that's promising.

Coyle told BBC Sport: “I’m led to believe through his representative that Everton is the club he wants to join.

“It’s not rocket science to say that Arouna Kone will probably leave at some point this week. There have been a number of offers in for him.

there you go peeps...should he turn out to be complete dog turd and only net us the 11 he netted a relegated wigan last season...we might be able to get a few pence for him next summer?

shocking thing is this window has shown clubs will pay good money for average strikers C. palace offering 6 mil for that championship lad and cornelious for £8 mil we should of put jelavic up for sale straight away someone would put atleast £6-7 mil for him take that + heitinga and gueye money and theirs the £10 mil for a top class forward

Cornelius was 7.5 and you could argue that is cheap for a 20 year old lad who is very highly rated. Will he be a success? Only time will tell but for the Cardiff fans it will be exciting to find out. Not sure how they pulled that one off tbh.

I think that has more to do with the influx of telly money, TBH mate.

All this new revenue is only going to force prices up, IMO.

Going off what the Danish lad who posts on here has said, he's not all that.

You're not comparing the same type of risk though. There is risk number one: will this player perform on field to a standard that will cause benefit to the club? There is risk number two: will this player perform on field to a standard that will at least cause his likely monetary value increase? There is risk number three: will this player reach an age during his contract at which he will see a drop in resale value (taking into account the position he plays)?
Risk number three is a given with Kone ... it will happen. I don't care.

A younger player from overseas (Finnbogason, anyone?) would be more difficult to assess in categories one and two, but runs zero risk in category three.
Maybe I am misunderstanding you here but "zero risk" in category three is simply not remotely true. There is a very real risk that we could buy a young player and he just turns out to be not good enough and he essentially washes out with no value (or negligible). It happens all the time; it's not only not zero risk it is in fact MORE likely than him increasing in value. Are you seriously suggesting every 21-23 year old purchased is a success?

And talk about Cardoza at 10m aged thirty, hope it works for them.

Assuming I'm the Danish lad, everyone in Denmark think that Cardiff paid twice as much as they should. Cornelius is untried to say the least. He could end up being a super striker, but then again he could be the next Bendtner

Just out of interest....if Kone played for us for 5 seasons and scored 50 goals for us before retiring (so no resale value whatsoever) is this a good deal or not?

If he played 20-25 league games a season, yeah, wouldnt grumble.
