The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

One of them ones that won't seem to go away this one. A signing I'd not of been suprised to see off RM when he was in charge of Wigan but ffs he's at Everton now.....we finished 6th, were trying to push on again, therefore needing better than that useless.....

We need a couple of CM players. Going into a season with just Fellaini and Gibson as natural CM is pretty suicidal. Osman and maybe barkley the only back up's but would mean them playing out of posistion really.

I'm really hoping Roberto has some money in his back pocket and a couple of nice suprises for us before sept 2nd.

Im underwhelmed by his signings so far.

Im peed off that Kone cant play cos hes hungry, hes gonna have to score lots of goals to get back in my good books.
Alcatraatreaxz looks like an injury prone crock.
And the goal we conceded at Blackburn hasnt filled me with confidence in Robles.
The Barca lid should be good, but untill I see him play, who knows, plus, hes going back.

and this is the problem thus far. He's signed three players from ****ing Wigan. If we are saying that 'he can improve as a manager, he was limited by the players' then sign three players, who the hell is left to blame for being ****ing relegated?

I think you should wait until they've all at least performed a few games.

You're basically judging them because they played for Wigan, that's it.
Therefore Martinez is also part of the problem then if that's your reasoning.

He's bought/signed three players that he's worked with before, Robles played 8 games for Wigan last season and kept a clean sheet in the FA cup displacing Al Habsi as their no.1 goalkeeper. Someone who will challenge Howard and still very young, lots to learn though.

Alcaraz was free, you can't complain, even if he does miss the start of the season. He fit's Martinez's system very well. We now have 4 senior CB's plus Stones and Duffy.

Kone is a 1 in 3 goalscorer, I, like most people aren't pleased he'll be 30 very soon but on our budget we wouldn't of found a striker as good as him for £5 million, he scored 13 goals last season in his first season, not bad at all. He'll add pace, something we've seriously lacked upfront for a long time. Which means we have both him and Jelavic as decent goalscorers plus Anichebe and Velios waiting in the wings.

And the bonus of Deulofeu, a major coup, even on loan.

They've all improved our squad majorly, we've got strength in depth for the first time in years.
It really annoys me when people just don't look at the facts but just say 'oh yeah these are ****e because they played for Wigan.'

The way I see it is wherever these players have come from they are good squad additions. Quality in the squad was lacking last season, by Pre-season both quality and numbers were lacking and needed addressing as quickly and cheaply as possible.

Robles has come in to replace Mucha. Is much younger, so potential to improve and will put Howard under pressure. He was a athletico player, that RM loaned at Wigan and got to see him first hand. Personally don't class him as a Wigan player, just a young promising GK (that we wanted) for a great price of 1.5M.

In Alcaraz and Kone we took there best defender and best striker for a total cost to us of 5M. We needed extra quality in both posistions in the squad as last season proved. Plus for all we know they could be replacements for jelavic and heitinga as squad players, with the view of better first 11 starters coming in eventually. Also Roberto's different tactics he will play at times makes the reasoning for signing these players more obvious.

They have replaced Neville and hitz. Which leaves us under strength in CM in both quality and numbers. It's an obvious part of the team/squad that needs signings. So it really makes you wonder why nothing's been done there yet. IMO something's going on there...either RM has a target/s (Mcarthy) and is playing the waiting game for pricing reasons (which wouldn't explain why we havnt at least brought a free/loan back up whilst that's ongoing) or we caught in a catch 22 and can't move until Fellaini is either commited or going. Maybe a bit or mix of both....

Anyway point being some good initial vital squad additions. With Barkley, Oveido and stones adding to that squad it's a lot stronger. A couple of proper first 11 signings now and we will be looking very strong IMO.

As a few posters have said the signings from Wigan were sensible and makes our squad so much stronger already, even Distin said the team now feels like a normal squad.

Three of the boys have cost us next to nothing (Joel, Alcaraz, Deulofeu), so no issues there.

Without knowing how much money RM has available, I would argue he should have offloaded Gueye, Heitinga etc.. and used the additional funding to bring in a Remy or Bony instead of Kone.

Lets hope we bring in 1 or 2 more.

Bony would have been a signing to get excited about! I'm not sure we could get anything for heitinga though and I doubt gueye has much value either.

It's annoying that we only seem to have had a £6m budget though when you compare it to what clubs below us have been spending. But I suppose we're used to that.

I stand by my larger point that which players we have on the field makes no real difference in terms of anything other than on the field results.

Yeah...just don't agree with that. But I work in the field, so, there's that.

This might go down as one of the most short sighted posts I have ever read on here. and there has been some.
