McCarthy i think is going to be a good player but he needs a move NOW. Personally i will be gutted if we hand the man that killed rugby league anything more than 10mil. Twice as gutted if we do for a player we released.

I actually felt the exact opposite after reading Bongs analysis. Didn't he pretty much show he is good, but not that good and isn't really an improvement over anything we already have...... I am on team Ijjy now..... I think...

Well maybe open to a little interpretation but the summary said "I like McCarthy. He’s a class player with two good feet, balance and a great range of passing, is good at retaining possession and building attacks from the back, driving forward and is tactically spot on. He’s also physically in top shape, has no documented booze or mdma habits, reduces the average age of the squad and wages wise what he would command is manageable. His weak point is in the tackle, as well as an inability to express himself fully, which I guess would come with age and with the correct management. In a nutshell, If he was brought to the club I’d be more than happy."

... but then he went on to say the price was the sticking point for him and 15m was excessive (which it is).

Regardless it's just one blokes opinion (albeit a guy whose opinion I rate) and YMMV.

Your hatred for McCarthy does genuinely amuse me. I don't personally rate him highly either, but from the way you talk about him it's like you've walked in on him goosing your missus

Ijjy is still into WWE wrestling, I think you can disregard any missus.

Alcaraz barely played but when he did he was their best centre half, and he's an experienced international. Robles barely played but when he did he kept a clean sheet and they won the FA Cup. Kone scored 11 goals for a relegated side, a better goal tally than either of our other strikers managed.
Saying they came from a relegated side doesn't tell the story at all and is a pointless criticism. If we'd signed McArthur, Santos, and Boyce then fair enough.
I keep reading this constantly, but that's only a fair comparison if they've played the same number of games isn't it, so that stat is completely misleading.

Anichebe scored 8 as apposed to Kone's 11, but played a lot less games.

Apparently we're going to make a move to sign Oliver Torres on loan for this season.

Plays for Athletico Madrid as a midfielder, he's 18, Spanish and played with the U-21's.

Lads can we forget where the players came from and judge them on their merits???

Can't remember who it was but someone posted a list of where our 80s league winneres were signed from (Burnley, Dunfermline etc) which made the pint beautifully.

Yeah. That was me.

Southall from Bury, Reid from Bolton, Sharp from Dumbarton and Sheedy fro the sh^te reserves.

The point is, it doesn't matter where they come from or whether they are "good" or "sh^te". It's whether they are a good fit into the team and the playing style.

It's no surprise that players who have left Everton have struggled elsewhere. It's because the fitted our style of play.
From now on, it's whether they fit in with Martinez' style and can bond with their team-mates that's important.

It appears, at least from the manager's point of view that the player we've signed so far, do fit his style.

Let's wait and see how they perform before passing judgement.

Anichebe Goals per 90 minutes 0.313953

Kone Goals per 90 minutes 0.337769

So Anichebe was slightly worse but not by a lot. (Sake of comparison ... RVP's rate was 0.74928.) Oh and FWIW Jela was 0.259366 ... so pretty bad but we all knew that.

Oh and "past it" and "washed up" Dempsey beat them both with 0.37267 ... and he isn't a striker of course.
