End of the day leaking goals means we will have to score more. Not our strongest trade.

Moyes ain't our manager no more though mate.

The best player in the world carved our defence open last night, big deal, if we'd lost 2-1 to Barcelona with Messi having a laugh no-one would bat an eyelid.

Whilst I know what your saying, and its true not many can do it to such devastating affect as real and ronaldo, teams will still do it and it will catch us out if we continue playing like that. End of the day leaking goals means we will have to score more. Not our strongest trade.

Can't see us leaking that many to be honest mate. I know it's only a friendly but even Ronaldo and co only scored twice. We've not looked short of goals this pre-season so far either and Martinez seems to have us playing a far more attacking style than we saw in 11 years of Moyes. Stands to reason we'll create a lot more chances and with that, hopefully score quite a few more than we've managed in a few years.

...I think it was more that on numerous occasions we were caught out by a single ball played behind the back four. Ronaldo was the recipient, but we looked extremely vulnerable to me. The other aspect was that our defenders have clearly been encouraged to play out of defence and against Premiership teams that press like they do, I can see us getting caught in possession or even misjudging back passes.

Exactly. How anyone can be displeased at conceding three goals against the Italian champions and Real Madrid is beyond me.

Defensively I´ve got no worries what so ever. Jagielka is in the form of his life and Distin is still right up there.

What worries me most is lack of creativity in the middle. We need someone with a bit of quality in front of Fellaini and Gibson. In case we don´t manage to bring anyone in it´s Pienaar or Barkley for me.

Hi,
I have been playing a great browser game and I really enjoy it. You manage your own team and play against real players from all over the world. You can make your football/hockey or/and handball team(s). The game has good forum in many languages! Join in, you won't regret it!

i thought we defended really well tbh. Caught them offside a lot and i'm not overly convinced that both their goals were onside. the main reason it didn't work was because our defensive mid kept leaving a massive hole between midfield and defence. gibson or felli in that position and that problem doesn't exist. howard made what 1 or 2 saves against the 2nd best attacking line-up in the world?

alderweirld is good, if he can be used as DM backup as well as challenging for RB and CB then it would be a good signing especially if we can get heitinga off the wages baring in mind distin only has 1/2 seasons left

Yep, this morning's match further stressed that we need another CM who can play a holding/defensive role.

James McCarthy can still bail like.

We need a CM with good passing ability thats all. Obviuosly a DM with strength, tough tackling and a great passing range would be awesome but maybe someone in the mold of a Steven Defour, Ever Banega, Anderson (ManU) would do.

If we where to describe our current CMs id say Gibson is a deeplaying playmaker, Fellaini a box to box CM who can score and destroy, Barkley an athtletic ACM, Osman...well he just got good footwork thats about it. So we really need a CM with good vision and passing range to complement what we already have. We just need another CM to keep Osman on the bench.

A CB who is comfortable on the ball would be great also.

Not much interest this summer in Derby County's Will Hughes. Think his footballing style could suit Martinez's plans, would this be a cheaper option than McCarthy?

And with Moyes we dropped loads of points by being overly defensive and negative. Every formation or tactic has it's negatives and positives, Martinez's being that you can get caught on the break if your players aren't switched on.

Scoring wasn't our strongest trade under Moyes, but he's not our manager anymore.

By all accounts Alderwiereld nearly moved to Leverkusen this summer for just over £4m so god knows why the papers think he'll move for £6m?!.

See, you say that but last night was not all that different to how we where getting caught all of last year. I remember when Sessengon and Fletcher ripped the back out of us on the counter at Goodison. Our wingbacks/fullbacks have left our CBs exposed to pacey counter attacks for a while now. The major issue for me was Heitinga not really offering anything forward and not really covering the defence either in addition to the fact we were playing one of the best attacking sides in the world.

According to the official stats we gave away the fewest goals in the league on the counter attack last year.
