We really, really, really need more CBs, just last week, I was thinking to myself, 8 CBs isnt enough.
He's Belgian mate.
....its all good and well folk saying sell Heitinga, but it seems to me like he's playing out his contract for a juicy Bosman pay day. We wont get anything for him unless he wants to go and I can't see that happening.
Don't agree, I think johnny is more than happy to go. Can't see him wanting to sit on the bench WC year. Think its just one of those transfers...in his last year, high wages, club wants to sell, buyer wants cheap as possible. He will go but I expect it to drag on towards deadline day trying to find a deal that suits all concerned.
Hope we sign the Belgian CB. He's really good and the right age.
Ideally we do need a CB to replace heitinga, and we need 2 CM...1 minimum. IMO to challange the top 4 we also need to sell jelavic and replace with a quality first choice striker as jella, kone and vic are all of simlar quality (not quite good enough) another squad winger wouldn't go a miss either.
But of course with us not having the finances of the mighty like Norwich, Swansea, West Ham ect, I'm sure at most we might get 1 in, if of course we can sell first!
....I hope you're right and JH is prepared to go but his attitude last season gave me the impression of somebody seeing out his time. Agree that the Belgian centre back looks a goodun and probably better suited to RM system than we currently have.
My worry CB wise is RM tactics. Last night was a real eye opener. With quality fast fire power against us Roberto (as he did at Wigan) clearly believe's a high line is the best tactic, it cost him several points at Wigan and its gonna cost us too. Doesn't matter who we have at CB playing tactics like that. I've never seen us ever defend and look as vulnerable as that before (sorry once, against utd, when moyes said after he was fuming at what our defenders did) it was worrying to see. I hope to god RM learns from his mistakes, because I have no doubt he's defensively naive currently.
