Try Barkley there . THe bottom line is a centre mid of some capacity is needed . From a performance perspective a attacking mid is needed more but for depth we don't really have the quality for when gibsons out . That's why i would try my hardest to get Honda as he can play deep or near the front line

I imagine John Lundstram or Junior would be more likely to play alongside Fellaini or Gibson than Barkley would.

..playing in front of 2 centre backs doesn't necessarily involve a big bucks player. Lee Carsley was brilliant in that role and barely missed a game, even when younger players were being rested. Macheleli was top drawer for chelski, not sure how much they played for him but it takes a certain type.

We all recognise the fact that a defensive mid is required whatever your taughts on mcgeady if rumours of a 4 million bid is correct surely that money would be better spent on a centre mid.. That guy we were linked too in Spain.. On another note any idea when team is back from states??

Our final game in Miami will be on Tuesday or Wednesday depending on tonight's result, so I'd guess they'll be travelling back on Thursday at the latest.

We don't need another creative attacking midfielder, Barkley, Naismith, Osman and Mirallas can all play there.

A backup orthodox CM like Gibson is what we need or a box to box midfielder. Depending what formation we play I think we're covered in the DM department as Heitinga can be push forward.

We only have 2 senior CM's at the club, Fellaini was hardly ever in that position last season meaning that we either saw Osman or Neville in that position with Gibson or not.

We're fine in the attacking front but seriously lack cover in the middle.

Problem is only 2 of them who you have named are any good there . Barkley is the only one with creativity . Mirallas is more of a second striker than a playmaker

I disagree though mate, Barkley is ace and is only going to get better but I can see Naismith and Osman thriving in that position in some games, with Martinez as manager.

I agree that Mirallas is a playmaker/second striker but he can also play as a AM if needed.

I'm pretty sure Martinez will get someone in to cover midfield.

I really don't want to see Osman in the middle next season.

If Fellaini goes then we really need 2 CMs. Unless he's planning to play 3 at the back for the majority of the season as there is less defensive responsibility for the CMs, we may get away with one in that case.
