Part if me says it was time, part if me says he could've still been a part of the squad.

But overall, he's given everything he could for this club. A club he truly loves.

Sad day indeed. It's more unexpected than anything.

*NB - the squads effing bare now*

I cant understand people being so upset/dissapointed by this.

I think with Cahill because he scored goals in games like the derby and City (good ones to win) it clouded their judgment on him especially in the last two seasons.

Hes played as a striker and scored 11 goals in 2 seasons and for a player on as much as hes on that simply not enough.

He will be missed in the dressing room as he was a big character but on the pitch he had not delivered for some time.

He leaves us with some great memories and he was superb for EFC considering he cost us £1.5m, he gave every last drop in every single game you could never once say he didnt give his all infact times when he has put his body on the line playing with injuries for the good of the team have finally caught up with him.

The time is right for Everton FC and for Tim Cahill.

Good luck TIM.

Having to console two very sad kids here...

And to think, we sell a guy with an Everton heart as big as Dunc's for a peanut! (n)

Putting peoples memories to one side does anyone actually think from a footballing point of view its thw wrong decision ?

You're right about his contribution but I fully understand why people are sad he's leaving. I think most Evertonians feel an affinity with Cahill because he played the way a fan would play, always giving of his absolute best for the club. In a way, this marks the end of an era and it's bound to be an emotional time for us all.

Good luck for the future, Tim.

Gutted to see him go.

lots of people have said he should be no where near our team this year but Moyes will still play him because thats what Moyes does?! Well I hope this proves to some of you that Moyes is trying to bring youth on- Duffy, Junior and the young keeper have all featured in pre season and now one of the older players has moved on.

Fair play to Moyes couldnt have been easy to allow one of his most trusted players to go.

Tim Cahill you will be missed!

lets be honest he was only going to be a sub this season as moyes has already stated he see's fellaini in that role role behind the striker, good deal for both parties and we should all thank tim and wish him good luck

It happened too soon without him being able to say bye to the fans, it's depressing. Everyone knows his time was coming to an end, but I hope he remains apart of the club in one way or another after he retires. He epitomises what Everton is about, honestly a true legend who I'm utterly gutted to see leave. I don't care how bad his last season was, because every season before that he was key to our success. Don't let one poor season affect your judgement on how pivotal he has been to getting where Everton is today.

Best of luck timmy.

Sad times but good deal for all parties involved. We cant be paying a squad player £70k or whatever it is a week with his best days behind him! A truly great servant to our club and you will be missed Tim.

I've been saying for over a year we would be playing better football without him in the side.

Now he's going I feel ****ing sick.

Hopefully he'll be playing at Hibbo's testimonial and will get the type of send off rserved for our hall of famers, he defo deserves it.

Thankfully I'll never have to see him at Goodison in another sides colours.

Conor, Do us a favour tell him to go and piss on the Arkles before he gets off.

He deserves his own testimonial, not some half arsed attempt to honour him at another legends testimonial.

Great player for us but the time had come. I think £1 million + his wages off the books is a great deal for the club at this stage.

Of course he could. He's not automatic choice now for a start, but at any decent club they'd have retained him to come off the bench and start a few games for impact. The way Bill's Whelk Stall runs though it's 'sell him off and get a Bosman in'.

Criminals who run this club. The biggest shysters ever to darken the door of EFC.
