Even though I'm an Americano here on an Everton forum, I live in Paraguay. So your winter/our summer. And we're flying for most of it, aside busing around the lake for El Calafate/El Cheltan/Punto Natales.

It's about six weeks until the far south end of the trip - El Calafate/Ushuaia and still hovering around single digit temps (C) down there. At least we're escaping the brutal summer here. Around 40c/100F with humidity north of 50%... just miserable walking anywhere. And I say this having lived most my life in Arizona, where we have 100 days of (DRY) 40c/100F a year.

Ah I see now.....I suppose the title under your name does give it away.

As I mentioned earlier I went to all 13 countries last year and Paraguay was the hottest by far, it wasn't even summer and it was up to 51c......It was 36c while having a beer at 3 in the morning for christs sake!

This year has been much more mild. Just now hitting over 30. Least year a month after we arrived, it was August (Paraguay's "February" in Northern terms) and it hit 39 one afternoon. We were fortunate to be back in Estados Unidos for the holidays, so missed a month of misery.

Hopefully you had some lomitos to pad your stomach from that 3am beer... assuming it was Brahma or Pilsen. Or worse.

Terrified? Unless you're an unarmed black man, you'll be ok.
True that.

Heat really was unbearable during the day in Asunción, 51c!!! Never felt anything like it. The narrow streets with tarmac melting, buses from the 70s spurting out thick diesel smoke, heat just hitting you from everywhere. It was the pool, shade and a/c for the week, it was an effort just going down the shops.

Don't worry, had a lovely local girl to take care of me, two of the finest jugs of milk I have ever seen.

Travel tip for everyone, well for all the single lads anyway.

Get on Tinder!!!!

I didn't cop on until the last few months of that trip but holy christ! A simple "Hello how are you, do you speak english?" in their native tongue is all it takes.

35 more sleeps until Bangkok / Chiang Mai / Ho Chi Minh / Hoi An. Can't wait. Bring on the warm weather, cheep beer and street food.
Hoi An is really nice. Sooooo cheap. I recall visiting a pub which was seeing really lovely home brew lager for 3,000d a pint, when it was 40,000d to the pound. What a great night that was!

Jeez! Don't think it's as cheap any more (read a lot on the culinary scene), but still getting your Banh Mi sandwiches for 50p in Ho Chi Minh and a massive bowl of Pho for under a quid. That'll do me!

Bia hoi? If so, amazingly cheap but 'lovely' isn't quite the word I'd use to describe it...
