Off to Prague on Thursday for 5 nights. Been wanting to go there for ages, now hoping they can speak English in most places as that Czech isn't easy.

I can echo the Berlin being boss shouts, loved it all three times I've been there.

I was around 14 ( so its about 19 years ago). Was in Nairobi.

It was great. The people are very nice, but can be extremely pushy with trying to sell stuff etc. We had to stay in after around 8 at the evening or something though, because it was dangerous to be out after that ( because of crimes etc.). Was on safari in lake nakuru. Fantastic experience, seeing all kind of wild animals. Was also sleeping in a camp in the safaripark listening to the lions roars in the dark.
also went to a restaurant where we could try lots of different meat from different animals like crocodile, zebra, lion, antelope. very fun experience.

What are some good short trips I can do from Toronto? Up to speed with the bigger cities and tourist spots, looking more for "hidden gems"

If you are only in Venice for the day, it's not really enough time to do the lagoon or the islands. In that case, wherever you arrive at (train or bus station) take the Vaporetto (water bus) down the Grand Canal to St Mark's Square. Choose one 'sight' to see (Rialto, Doge's Palace, St Mark's Basilica) and spend the rest of the time getting away from the crowds by wandering down little side streets. Find a local restaurant without tourist hordes and have some food and wine. When you don't want to be 'lost' any more, start walking in any direction and you will soon come across a sign for Rialto, San Marco or Ferroviale (which will indicate where the main tourist streams are). Going over to the Guidecca island opposite St Mark's is nice for views and to find a decent place to sit and eat/drink.
