The Wirral (again)

One of the lads is from the Wirral (yeah, we bully him for it), and he was saying that they're trying to create and I'm paraphrasing here "the Lark Lane of New Brighton". Not sure which road it will be, but I think it's an attempt to put some decent bars over there to tempt people to go.

He`s deffo talking about Victoria Road.

I ate there recently, one hot very Sunday afternoon, with my missus and my youngest lad.

Loads of little bars and bistros, with tables outside and a couple of traditional pubs.

Really good vibe and not full of the fat Lonsdale wearing scruffs, that you get down on the front.

We go all the time, as my youngest lad loves the place and you can see a slow renaissance starting to take place.

They seem to have cleared all the smakheads and plonkies off the front too.

Nice one, mate. Will give it a go as it's somewhere a bit different to visit during the summer holidays.

Looks alright, that.

I love Lark Lane and places like the Baltic triangle, but this is a lot closer so I'll check it out.

It`s a great place for the kids, as they don`t notice the all the fatties shuffling about, all they see is the beach, the fair and the ice creams.

Then you can escape all that if you want to, with a short walk up the hill onto Victoria Road.

I remember there being a lot of racial disharmony there - whites / asians / turks and that was with out all the gang stuff.
Shamima Begum's old school was on my road!

It was a melting pot of cultures. I like to think of myself as quite tolerant, but it wasn't a good place. I never felt safe there.

Can't argue with you there Kurt, was down home a couple of months ago walking down Grange Road, it was full of Jeremy Kyle rejects and the smell of weed was pungent.
TBF Birkenhead town centre is one of the few blots on the landscape
there are plenty of positives, nice villages with country pubs, red rocks beach, Hilbre Island, Thurstaston and Bidston Hills, great beaches and so much more.
I was brought up in Upton and went to school in Birkenhead and I'm proud to be from the Wirral.
So was I.
