Birkenhead thesedays is not great unfortunately. But there are some fantastic old buildings there and must have been thriving 100+ years ago. If the north west had only a fraction of the wealth of the south east it would have great potential given it's proximity to Liverpool City centre.
Used to go to birko quite a bit when I was a kid to stay with family, also about 25 years ago it was great to go Xmas shopping and stuff, sadly the last time I went there was about 20 years ago and wow, the place looks like putin’s launched an SMO there.

Can't argue with you there Kurt, was down home a couple of months ago walking down Grange Road, it was full of Jeremy Kyle rejects and the smell of weed was pungent.
TBF Birkenhead town centre is one of the few blots on the landscape
there are plenty of positives, nice villages with country pubs, red rocks beach, Hilbre Island, Thurstaston and Bidston Hills, great beaches and so much more.
I was brought up in Upton and went to school in Birkenhead and I'm proud to be from the Wirral.

Yep, a peninsula of contrasts.

Abject poverty and significant wealth.

Once you know the places to swerve, it is a good place to live and raise a family.

All down to money, but some lovely areas. good schools. and only 30 minutes from James Street on the train from West Kirby.

Must admit to not knowing any of the Wirral, obviously I’ve driven through places on my way to Liverpool but never visited any of the beauty spots, unless you class bromborough and Ellsmere port as beautiful.

I think I’ve been to Frodsham and knutsford too but I’m not even sure if they are classed as the Wirral

The miniature trains at Royden Park are pretty ace. (Or they were, no idea if they still chuff about).
