Well you're from Bootle so...
It has some nice places and some really bad places and Birkenhead.

I moved over here a few years back. It improved.

Basically whatever side I reside on is the best side at the time.

Tell you what I do enjoy a whole lot more on this side. Driving. Its so much more laid back.

Better dogging scene too.

Many summer days spent on the peninsula.
Bus into town , ferry ,long walk to New Brighton .
Used to get wallasey lids trying to nab a few strays,but the liverpool mas would chase them...

Birkenhead thesedays is not great unfortunately. But there are some fantastic old buildings there and must have been thriving 100+ years ago. If the north west had only a fraction of the wealth of the south east it would have great potential given it's proximity to Liverpool City centre.

My girlfriend is from Birkenhead so I'm afraid I've been compromised and incidentally the Wirral is a lovely place.

Seriously though, getting the train / ferry over on my bike and doing the Wirral way is one of my favourite things to do in summer

It may have been give the open but that's still a very generous position for Royal Liverpool in the local rankings.
