I think as a fan base we need to consider whether we're deluding ourselves.

Look at Everton objectively, remove the tinted glasses and consider how attractive Big Sam's Everton currently is.

You need to run before you can walk, and we're crawling at the moment.

I just hope Tosun/Walcott are Walsh signings to justify him not being first out the door after Koeman - by justify, I mean the continuation argument.

We shouldn't give Allardyce a penny in my view, because I'm convinced he was brought in as a last resort amid panic to get us through the season without a total relegation collapse.

The concern is that these are Allardyce signings and there is no systematic approach to our play which will see us develop as a club for next decade.

Aside from my trolling in this thread, my issue goes much larger than the purchase. We seem to be throwing ridiculous money at players for different systems and there is no cohesion at all.

The idea of appointing Walsh was to set a pattern where a manager can seamlessly fall in and continue as if there is no change (same approach, same ideas on how the game should be played etc etc).

We’ve gone from Koeman wanting a high press and quick turnover to Allardyce sitting deep and pumping the ball from one end to the other as quick as possible, this then as the club wasting money on fixes to solutions which may again arise when we change manager again.

There’s one man who failed massively at his job yet seems to be invincible.

Of course he will. Now we at least have good attacking options until the end of the season. I'd still like to see Bolasie shifted out of the starting XI, a better winger brought in and second good striker signed too. Hopefully we can do that in the summer.

Yes perfect. Lets support a £28m signing - that has hardly had chance to show what he's about - through a 12 month injury lay off, only to off load him after a couple of games because he isn't setting the world alight yet.

Bold bit is spot on. If you hire a DoF, then he has to have that responsibility. The fact we couldn't distinguish Koeman/Walsh signings was a massive problem - Walsh has one job, the manager has another; they shouldn't cross paths except at the point of the manager saying "we need such a player" and the DoF saying "I'll find such a player."

Allardyce's influence on transfers should end at "I need a left back", and that's true of any future manager too.

You must be joking, so I won't spend any more time on this response (Bolasie is trash and always has been).

Don't think under Sam we'll be seeing that mate.

We'll see exactly that, but with Sigurdsson and Rooney alternating.

This "Allardyce doesn't attack" view is nonsense - he will have a side attack when they get the basics right and don't leave gaps all over the shop. Yeah, we'll never play Guardiola type stuff but the idea Allardyce doesn't want to have a strong attack is insane.

There is no way mate Allardyce is going to play with 2 out and out wingers who aren't renowned for the defensive side of their game.
