When Moshiri come in I was saying a true indication will be how much onus Everton put on resale value.

Sure, it's useful and something to be mindful of but being a nursery and feeder club for others will only get you so far - you have to sign players for the now.

It's a short career for a footballer and there is no way they are going to give a third of it to a club when better teams are after you. Unfortunately that is the truth for us and will be for a while. Next best for us to buy players in there prime late 20's that won't want to move on.

Expensive way to run a football club that. We pay high wages for a player with diminishing talents and no resale value.

We are buying young players and plenty of them that have got to realise there potential before we can even think of a resale value. If they can get a good resale value then unless they want to go we have to keep them. Stones & Lukaku got good value but think we would rather have kept them. They would be the prices we would have to pay to get good young players with a good resale......and you just know we cannot. The older players we have signed have already proven elsewhere that they are or have been good proven players whereas all youngsters are potential only unless you would like us to spend 60m upwards......Young players with a resale value are usually out of our price range...we can only go for the potential gambles. Walcott might not have much of a resale value but show we a younger player who scores regular season on season for £20m or less.

20 odd million pounds to find that out is too expensive. There'll be no sell on as was warned about Bolasie. The club dont learn.

Alike to any potential transfer dealing any Club ever makes - there is a risk.

And by the way, if you were to purchase any £20m player from world football and they 'do not fit in, pull up injured' the chances are their valuation will depreciate anyway. See: Davy Klaassen, not that I think we should sell him in any way shape or form but if we were we would be looking at a price depreciation.

Realistically, to take the next step in progressing we need to a) narrow the quality gap between ourselves and the teams above, and b) change this losers mentality that is running through the squad.

As an individual Theo Walcott achieves both a & b. He is better than what we have and his head is more experienced and potentially more driven than some of the players we have here at the moment. He's got a World Cup place to fight for so he won't be filling the numbers.

We don't need someone who could take 2 years to settle into the English game or someone we have to bide our time with, that is Vlasic and Lookman - ready made and in the waiting. We need someone to set the example for those individuals, and at £20m Theo Walcott is an absolute economical steal.

I think what concerns some people is that paying that premium when it's unlikely to reap immediate dividends (i.e. Walcott isn't the difference between us winning and not winning a trophy) is scary for a club like Everton that doesn't have unlimited resources. It's OK for it to be the exception, but we're adding a lot of expensive players (fees and wages) whose talents will diminish or start to diminish over the next few years. Everyone gets that players in their prime are expensive, the question is whether it makes sense for us to buy players with no resale value who might well need replacing within the next few seasons.
