That might be all we need?

If Theo settles in over the next 6 months and bangs in 20 next season with Cenk doing the same and midfield chipping in with 10-15 goals we might be looking at a run for a CL place.

A CL place will allow us to step up and buy better quality than Theo Walcott.
If the most goals he scored in the league was 6 years ago and he only scored 14 how on Earth is he going to bang 20 in?!

Everton just get this done.....we don't need another signing video...we all know it's Theo' Im faster than a one legged Bolaise' Walcott for god sake....I want to move on to something else to moan about!!!

In the Moyes era we made a load of signings in a short period that had long-term value: Cahill, Arteta, Jagielka, Baines, Lescott, Pienaar. These players became the core of a decent team, all excellent investments.

It scares me that now we have more money we lurch to spending the bulk of that money on short-term value instead of trying to use it to build something longer term.

For comparison Spurs two big transfers in the summer were aurier and sanchez, who are 24 and 21 respectively and represent long-term value. There are exceptions of course but generally when Spurs spend they spend on younger players.

Players like Son, Ben Davies, Alderweireld, Wanyama in previous seasons. You're telling me we can't attract players like that until we have Walcott?

We have got a load of young players who are predicted big things in the future. But you can’t just play all your youth cause they show some talent. You have to balance the squad and ease them in. Do you seriously want the team to start with: Holgate, kenny, davies, baninigme, lookman, Vlasic and DCL every week?

They would get knackered, as some already are, and if they have a few bad games and defeats, their confidence gets destroyed and they end up not reaching their potential.

Our team is currently a load of kids and a load of over 30s. You need some in their peak to help bring them on and provide the energy and experience. It’s the same in any sport at any level. You have a solid spine of players in their peak, with a few class kids, and a few older players who read it well. Then the 2nd team, has more youth who are on the fringes of the first team, with a few more older players who still have it but lost pace or whatever. And a few in their prime. Then the third team is older and juniors coming through. No sport at any level throws all the youth in straight away, they play players in their peak with one or two youth players and rotate more in. It aids development.

We just lack the players in their peak at the minute and are remedying that.

So to summarise a lot of this forum at the moment..

We’re not spending enough money on players, but we’ve spent £20m on a player but he’s basically a pensioner so it’s a waste of money. We need more goal scorers but Walcott only scores at a better rate from the wing than all of our other options, which isn’t good enough apparently. The players we’re signing are too old even though we’re crying out for proven players with experience. According to a lot of people on here we apparently need to sign players under the age of 28 for low prices who are proven players at this level and who will score lots of goals and are also players for the future.

Easy that. Sort it Walsh you bad tit. Also get Ronaldo.

:drunk:

With this signing we've added some much needed attacking threat this window already, I'm made up, there are Evertonians on here that will never be happy, that's not how I chose to follow my club.

I'm optimistic now we can start slotting more.

Me too, brilliant signing for the price. Everton have now spent close to 50 mil on attackers in January. Not bad.!

Zat disagrees me thinks.

I think you are spot on.

Ronaldo who wants that gimp, he's older than Walnut! ;)

I voted no on the poll, but I’ve come to realise we aren’t who I thought we were no more, and he’s better than what we’ve got.

I’m now going to self flagellate in the welfare unit.

According to ‘reports’ on sky an twitter, he’s training at FF today.....

Still no official announcement.....

Everton

They’re making one of those boss videos. Probably loads of clips of Arsene Wenger and Sven Goran Eriksson along with scenery from Germany and the south coast.
