Think the figures I've seen are £105-110k mate, but he's supposedly on 120k p/wk there. But yeh, just about matching it probably if you include bonuses etc.

Anyway, the point still stands - he could just have easily stayed there.

Cost of living " up north" is probably equatable to the 10k less in wages a week.

His tin of Spam is probably cheaper in Huyton's Spar than Walthamstow's Spar.

The club drags the momentum of excitement out of people when it comes to signings, time and time again fans are left waiting and waiting. The only recent one I think of done fairly quickly and a surprise was Pickford I think. There must be reasons for this.

That's why those little videos we do are now embarrassing, a camera pans out, looks round a bush, nothing there, goes round a corner, nothing there, looks behind a door, there is someone there, who is it? It's Theo Walcott! WOW! who would have thought it.

No not against the Walcott signing at all. I think it is a bit of shame that we are going after players like him, but that's where we are currently. I don't see how we get a similar league-ready player for anything like that kind of money in January. Plus if you are buying Walcott 6 months before the WC is easily the best time to sign him.

I just think he isn't that good a player, and his goal scoring record is pretty poor for someone to have played at Arsenal for the last ten years.
Fair enough mate. FWIW I don't think he's that great either and if you asked me whether I wanted him before the season started I'd have said no way. The fact that I'm a bit fence sitting now is testament to how our season to date has panned out.

I do think you're being a bit hard on his goal scoring record though for somebody who is not an out and out striker. His goals per minute ratio over that 7 season stint was 202, which isn't that bad when compared to Lukaku's record in the 4 seasons he had with us, which was a goal every 174 minutes. Or indeed Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal which is a goal every 168 mins.

Depends I guess. I could quite easily see it improving because I’m not convinced Arsenal’s style suited him. Arsenal play all around the box looking for intricate stuff whereas with us he should have lots of space on the counter.. we will see but I’m glad that we have someone who the opposition will have to worry about and create more space for Rooney and Sigurdsson to play in.
I was thinking something similar. Walcott with his pace would benefit from a team that play on the counter. He's played his entire career for a team that tend to dominate the ball and often up against packed defences. I'm looking forward to seeing how he does when the game opens up in front of him. We'll soon find out whether he still has that old pace of his.
