Its about pace really and the counter, you can see Sams plan, tough to beat and then counter.

Bolaise and Walcott on each flank, Gylfi at 10. Rooney in behind at 8 in transition. Thats appears on paper a fair bit of amo for Tosun.

In the future we have Lookman and Henry in support. before you look at the Dowells of this world.

He really can balance a squad cant he.

Yep, and as I've said, the thing with Sam is - defensively - he doesn't need the best of the best to be able to keep teams out. It's just a matter of organisation.

Offensively he obviously lacks that spark and guile, so he has to rely on getting quick, powerful and intelligent attackers to hit teams on the break.

Apart from the midfield, Rooney can’t play in a midfield 2 and gana isn’t really a defensive midfielder.

In the next 2 windows, we need to get the midfield right, the weakest it’s been in years imo

He can though, as long as the players next to him have the legs to do the running for him.

Rooney is so much better being able to get on the ball facing the goal. He's the best playmaker we have in that sense.

Against relegation fodder at home, Gana behind Rooney and McCarthy/Davies, with Gylfi left side, should be more than enough. If not even in a 4-2-3-1 with Gylfi at 10 and two wingers.

Obviously it's horses for courses.

Gana is first and foremost a defensive midfielder mate, he is absolutely boss at breaking up play, closing players down, spotting danger etc. You only have too look at how much his game is affected when he is asked to be the player out of him and Schneiderlin to play in a more advanced role, he becomes ineffective.

I remember a bizarre interview with his grandfather on radio some years ago.

He was clearly awarded an OBE, as he very arrogantly corrected the interviewer and provided his full title, on which he insisted the interviewer acknowledge.

Useless information obviously, but I can't think of Walcott now with recalling that interview, with "Mr X Walcott OBE"

My personal opinion, it’s a yes. Walcott is proven and scored 16 goals mainly as a sub last season. £20m for someone that has years left in him is good business for what he can offer going forward. In comparison to Barkley you have to remember he had one good game in six, often went missing in the big games and at the end of the day he didn’t want to play for us. If a recognised England international creative goal scorer wants to play for us then perfect. These days £20m is nothing

An absolute snip for one of our rivals' best players.

There's still a lot of untapped potential in Theo and the fact he turned down the RS and couple of times in the recent past makes him an instant favourite . The kid clearly recognises that we're on the up and they're a club in decline.

dont know if walcott has enough about him to be a big sam winger, especially in a team as attackin as that

Gareth Farreley wasn’t a scouser but he was a boyhood blue to whom we owe a lot. What’s the difference?

Indeed. Adam Lallana was born in St Albans, played youth at Bournemouth then went to Saints....but an Everton fan....now plays for Liverpool.

People really shouldn't worry about who players supported as a kid.

Walcott played a lot for Arsenal. Hardly Liverpool's best pals are they?!

Would love us to play this against lesser teams. Rooney playing quarterback with Gana doing his running. Bolasie and Walcott flanking Gylfi in the middle. Cenk up top. Tony Hancock on the telly. Jack the Ripper on every street corner.

Top 4 nailed on.
