You can spin it whichever way you want.

Arsenal are 6th at the moment, but they're typically a consistent Champions League side and Walcott has played almost 400 games for them (scoring over 100 goals), so he's clearly a seasoned pro at that level.

We're not at that level yet (we're nowhere near), and until we are, we need players who can push us towards that level. We can't expect to sign first-team players for CL clubs, because why would they come to us?

Walcott isn't a marquee signing, but he's got it in him to do a job for us and he'll give us some attributes we're massively lacking in - pace, width and a few more goals.
walcott is not going to push us to that level because he isn't even at it , we should be spending this money on players who may be of top 4 potential not players who are proven they are not of that level.

Mixed reports on his effectiveness. Boils down to where he is to be played. If as a winger there are better. We need to sign him first though. Kenwright Walsh and elstone might cock it up first

This is a big sam signing. He brought him back into the England fold even if it was for 1 game. He would of been in the team continually had big sam stayed.

How can you say he's not at that level when he has spent 11 seasons at that level playing very regularly?

He's not a world beater, but to say he's not capable of playing for a Top 4/Champions League side basically ignores the last 11 years.

He is not of top 4 standard now , this is vital money being flushed away when we could be taking a chance on some young potential which is what our scouting system is there to do . we should be looking for the next griezmann, lewandowski, kante, mahrez the list is endless of top players who have been bought cheap from smaller clubs, but we are just going after any average premier league who is available.

Is he better than what we have got currently i.e. Lennon? Yes! So why wouldn’t we want him?

We have to be realistic in building slowly as we went going to beat the top teams to a player otherwise we would offer 40m for Sanchez.
this isn't building anything he'll get us to 7th and in 2 years will be eating up the wage bill with no sell on fee , how is that building for the future ?

He can't get in a rank average 6th placed side , how can that be the type of player who can improve us long term a terrible shortsighted signing. We should be scouring europe for the next potential top 4 players with the type of money were throwing around and instead were signing keane, schneiderlin, bolaise and now walcott for big money and wages. We are Newcastle under Graeme Souness I'm embarrased

Yes because scouring Europe really worked out in the summer didn't it.

He knows premier league, scores goals, gets assists but for me most importantly he adds some much needed pace. Pace scares the life out of defenders, which in turn actually helps other goal scoring players who get more space themselves in good positions as the pace players provide that by normally occupying 2 players that tend to double up.

19 goals last season or a random punt on a player from Europe? Do me a favour

We have young talent in abundance - Lookman, Vlasic, DCL, Davies, Kenny, Holgate.

We signed Onyekuru in the summer and loaned him back out, we've got Kieran Dowell on loan doing great things. We're apparently in for Konsa from Charlton (20 years old) in this window.

It's just ridiculous to moan when we're in for a seasoned top 4 pro and say we need more youngsters. We've made some great strides with development and signing of young players. Signing an experienced player doesn't change that.
