I'd imagine there are multiple players playing in Europe who have similar attributes in respect of pace but have a far more rounded game. It's not my job to pick them out. There is a very good reason arsenal have been desperate to tie up Sanchez and ozil but have been quite prepared to let him run out his long term contract
Yes but they are risky as they have no PL experiance look at Klassen and Sandro.

One simple answer HE WOULDNT HAVE COME HERE. I wish some fans were realistic, we are not signing them sort of players at this moment in time, we just simply not appealing enough for them to want to come here. We are left to buy players that are fringe players at the top 6 clubs or the better players from teams below 6th (then foreign ones, who are risky as they have no PL experiance) but other teams below 6th want them players to then the price get bulked up.

Absolutely no ambition. If that's the case then when are they coming here? Once we've cemented our place in the top 10 with Theo Walcott flying up and down the wings?

You need to sell the club to these players and the supposed project we've got going on. Right now we're just throwing money away for no reason. If the top players won't come then at least hedge your bets on some young talent that's hungry to impress.

No PL experience attitude is exactly the short sighted attitude that cost us VVD and why we have Sam allerdyce as a manger. Its about having a proper scouting system being in place, due dilligence being undertaken in order to identify those who will succeed in this league like Southampton, leicester and Watford have, albeit with far lesser budgets, they also have a scouting system for coaches.

With klassen it was clear to see was an average player at ajax, he was never an outstanding performer. He scored goals though and looked great on paper, hence why i said its better to watch with your eyes, gylfi is the same to a lesser extent, great stats, in reality, he's good but not nearly as good as his price tag.

It's a horrendously insular thought process to expect PL experience which holds back many EPL team in terms of signings and managerial appointments. We have been more guilty than most of late of it and we are continuing it under Walsh and Sam

So you honestly think the players such as Saleh would have come here, we could have offered Roma more than them lot and offered him double the wages, he would still have went there. No ambition perhaps, but we have to work our way up to looking a good place to come, I think at times we were getting there then Martinez (messed that up a bit) and the Koeman (messed it up so bad it's put us 2/3 years back. TBH our ambition went when we let Lukaku go and let Barkley run his contract down, i just believe it's a rebuilding job again (not such a big one) but imo the likes of Walcott with help us along with that rebuilding. I think some fans still believe we could get players like Sanchez he's available we might as well offer him 300k and give Arsenal £40 million, then get laughed out of the PL. We need to be knocking on CL qualification to get top players in and that extremely difficult, ATM we will have to make do with Sigs, Walcott (if he comes) and an ageing Rooney, I think you better get use to it because that's how it's going to be, unless say next season we did a Leicester. This isn't me being negative, it the only way I can see the club can do it realistically.

??

I said Lennon was dire and someone quotes Walcott’s stats? I’d be happy with Walcott as he’s a significant improvement on Lennon

Ahh I missed the Lennon part I just knew those were Walcott’s stats just assumed that was the conversation.

*You did quote Walcott’s stats, it seemed like you were saying those were not real

You are indeed correct with this. I'm extremely skeptical about the ambition of the current ownership. They're either happy competing around the middle of the table or continue to make stupid decisions - and I very much include signing Theo Walcott in this bracket.

If they are actually seriously about us competing on a similar level to the likes of Spurs, they have to break the cycle at some point and bring in quality players. Whether that be breaking the bank for the current top stars (not likely) or unearthing gems that are currently off everyone's radar, it has to happen.

Back to Walcott, I just can't fathom the point in signing him. He's not going to give us anything that will take us on, we'll be finishing in and around the same position as we are now regardless of whether he signs. Leave the money until the summer and do some research between now and then so it's spent on a player(s) that can genuinely improve us.

The top teams don't really do it, they buy the top foreign players and because they are top players they adapt quicker, then they pick off the successes of the lower teams like VVD. But apart from Leicester freak season what have the others done not a lot. If we want to show ambition we should but top player from here and a broad, but then they don't want to come here.
