Didn't go down the tunnel or anything, so hopefully it's one he can get over during the break. This international week couldn't have come at a much better time.

@blulouie

I see Walcott as a stopgap player.

As you stated in the Digne thread, he relies on pace. For someone who has had numerous injuries (another today) and is 30 in March, how long will his pace last?

He's effective and certainly a good player. Is he as good as Salah? For me, he's not as good as his opposite number, Richarlison.

If we could get our money back for him in January or next summer + go for Lozano (23, 8 games and 6 goals this season) or someone else with that profile then i'd swap them in a flash.

..... He's a similar signing to when we got Aaron Lennon in 2015. Experienced, proven, and gives us something different to what we had previously (out-and-out winger with pace). We'll get a couple of seasons, maybe three, of good service out of him before he perhaps moves down to a lower-level PL or Championship team.

I agree with the comparison.

The thing that I cant see is if we kept him for this season +1 more season he would then me 31.

Who would then take him for a decent fee and cover his wages? Its risky...

I think the best thing (not short term) is to offload him in Jan or summer...

I was surprised when he held his hips after falling on his knee that he carried on,and even came back out for 2nd half,as i expected him to go off injured right away or not come back 2nd half

.... Bit harsh, considering he's scored two goals in four league games thus far, and has proved to be our best attacking threat after Richarlison.

As much as I agree with signing Lozano, it will be madness to sell Walcott so soon. He has become the most important winger at the club. If there is one to go that must be Lookman.

We just can’t sell all the players just because they will turn 30 and with no resale value. Those important first teamer like Walcott and Sigurdsson.

I like Richarlison , a lot.
But its wrong to compare him with Walcott at this early stage. The season before last he scored 19 in 37 for Arsenal has 47 England caps has actually won trophies in an excellent career.
If Richarlison goes on to match that we have a player on our hands.
So for now Walcott remains our most dangerous player and I hope its for the next few years...As i said he's class.

Btw
I would like us to go for Lozano , but find it strange no one else bought him.
There is a massive step up from the Eredivisie maybe he's not ready yet.

There is a chasm of difference between Walcott and Lennon mate.

He frustrates me. He should along with siggy be the aggression we need in attack but he just hasn't got it. We need players who will drag us out of the mud and push us forward leading attacks against stubborn teams like Huddersfield but he disappeared today.

I bite your hand off if we get our money back in January mate. He is invisible far to much. During games like today against the tough tackling teams or will just sit back he needs go step up and take charge if quick attacks to catch them out

Exactly my point. Hes the 2nd best winger (by some distance imo) and so surely we should always be looking to improve while his fee would be decent.

Youre forgetting that hes injury prone and relies on pace...something which will greatly affect him in his 30s

He's definitely ready imo

I disagree about walcott, Richarlison is one or two levels higher i think...also about him performing over the next few years, how many 31+ year old wingers do you know who kept up their consistency? Thats him at the end of next season.

Clearly not, but if we are looking for players as good as Salah we might be waiting a short while. I don’t see what that’s got to do with anything.

Salah drags the team into games (like richarlison has done for us)...thats whats needed at the top level.

Exactly...

Against Huddersfield hes the senior attacking player...not consistent enough and doesnt show the desire to win at all costs.
