The issue with him eggs is he's completely lost his goalscoring boots in the main. He's still getting into goalscoring positions but not slotting them ( such as Villa)
He showed last season that he knows where the goal is (Utd home and Spurs away) but his goal return is nowhere near what it could/should be for someone who hits the box as much as he he does.
His target really should have been 10 a season and just those extra few goals would make a heck of a difference to our results and his confidence/performances
...oh he has lost his goalscoring habit, but the point i’m making is he’s missing so many because he’s still getting on the end of things.
Aaron Lennon and Bolasie aren’t criticised for missing chances because they don’t work to get on the end of things. I’m not for one minute saying Walcott should start, i’m just saying he’s not useless. He’s the type who can still get a crucial goal for us.
I posted a while ago to say Lookman could learn from him. Walcott looks to exploit the space behind his full back. It’s uncomplicated and effective. No mazy runs across field, he plays with purpose. I agree, though, his best days have gone but i’ve always liked him.
