Just read an article on Sterling that he should be looking to model his game after Hazard's game. Which I suppose in theory is not a bad idea I suppose. For me he's more Shaun Wright Phillips than Hazard and I don't think he has it in him to be much more than that.

At some point he might need to go back to a back 4 and get 2 CM in there who can circulate the ball to our AM better than Henderson.
I don't know which two you would use though. That 3 had one who could pass, one who could head, and one who could run so it worked perfectly

Most attackers could do with modeling their game after Hazard. Sterling at a minimum needs to be played on the right like he is for City. This he is a striker because he scored a lot thing isn't working

Agree. Thing is Hazard has the lot in his locker. Pace, strength, hold up play, creativity, and finishing. Sterling has 1 of those traits. Thought it was a weird angle for the writer to go.

He settled on a system, and selected players he thought could play it. Its the same system every England youth team use.

This "offer something different" makes no sense. You think Shelvey would have made the difference. We can dispute starters and subs, but please tell me what fit England player he didnt take which he should have?
What's the use giving you names if they dont fit with the 'must be 100% fit/must be the 'right' type of player between the lines? I accept that someone like Oxlade-Chamberlain would have gone if fit, but you'd expect an international manger would have looked at an option in the event he couldn't play. Maybe that's too much to ask that he brings such a player?

So tell me which fit English player he didnt take that you would have done. Bearing in mind he got to a SF.

Analysing the team selection that Southgate favoured, based on World Cup performance, my view of the England team for the future is:

Pickford (keep) Trippier (Keep) Walker (Keep) Stones (Keep) Maguire (Keep) Young (Dump) Henderson (Dump) Ali (Dump) Lingard (Keep) Sterling (Dump) Kane (Dump).

I have no answer who we should replace the 'dumps' with.

I'd have taken Lallana or Wilshere. Both fit enough to take part....or maybe they weren't fit enough for you?

You just seem reluctant to acknowledge what a lot of people in the media seem to have been saying (and rightly so) that there were options to bring at least one different sort of player to the ones he brought out. I dont know why. You seem to be unwilling to accept he blundered on that or that he blundered at all.

I'd keep Kane undoubtedly - he's proven it against top class defenders for years now. Alli has had a poor season, so depends on his club form - think he's a better player than Lingard.

Not convinced by Walker in a back 3 but, as with your drops, can't think who else there is.
