Around 66pts we'll hit based on the last half of the season. Should be good enough for 5th or 6th
66pts only if we can replicate the results from the first half of the season, which included 12 from 12 in the early going. Tough to see at the moment but then it always will be in the aftermath of a defeat/non-performance.

One thing that is clear now is that even if we match the points total and/or position of that season, it won’t be done with the kind of panache we did it then. I won’t care about that if it means kicking on into Europe, but obviously it would be much nicer to watch us playing some lovely stuff while we do it.

Before we went into this we were on a good run. We'll bounce back and have a few more runs this season and it'll be enough for Europa imo. Can't argue with that last part. Would u say this team is better than the team we had then with regards to quality and balance? The manager is definitely an improvement.

This is where you run into the form vs class argument. Martinez’s first season was an outrageous balance of good defenders and attackers, linked well by the midfield. As time went on he trained the good defending out of the team, so it became a whole that was less than the sum of its parts.

This most recent good run was purely a result of the coach utilising what he had to work with, to the very best of their collective ability. There’s no doubt at all that the coaching we have now is light years ahead of what we had then. Long story short: I’d kill for those players and this coach.

13/14 team was much better to watch and I had more faith in them getting results. I remember being shocked after losing at home to Sunderland, think Osman gave it away on the edge of our box. I'm not surprised when this current squad loses any game.

And that's pretty much summed up why I think we'll still get 5th or 6th, but due to the players we do have, results like today are gonna be expected until we add more quality. We're not far off.

Forgot when we lose a game we become relagation candidates in here lol

I nreality, those players had big hearts (for Moyes) but went missing for other managers subsequently and had limited technical ability.

I suspect that Ancelotti would never have agreed to sign if he'd been told he had to build something on that lot with no cash to buy players other than to sell Fellaini and then Stones.

It sickens me watching Ross, full of running, and goals I might add, enjoying his football again. Some of the absolute snails we’ve got in midfield are nowhere near his level.

Bobby got found out towards the end of the season. It was a shame, as he came really close to fourth place. But once coaches worked him out we never really threatened ever again.
