This season vs Martinez 13/14 season

Next season we can be miles better and still miss Europe because other teams have sorted themselves out, this season has been shocking a fluke win at Arsenal and a good win at easy pickings Liverpool dosent hide it.

It's been a disastrous season if we take out the 4 points taken off Liverpool...and to be fair, most teams in this league could have taken 4 points off Liverpool this season.

I can easily see Villa leapfrogging us and we finish 9th when 3rd or 4th were very much up for grabs for a club like Everton.

Not to at least get Europe is appalling.

He got the very maximum out of players he inherited off Moyes - and after only one summer teaching them to play ball to feet football for the first time in their careers. It was a monumental feat to get 72 points out of a fairly limited team like that.

Sadly, they simply weren't capable of keeping up to those standards, and Roberto wasn't capable of the ruthless ability to change gears and sell players in the summer of 2014 (too busy doing tv work at the World Cup that summer for my liking), the standards dropped and certain players eventually stabbed him in the back to cover up their own inadequacies.

There's no heart or belief at this club. I swear that the failure miasma that surrounds it has even enveloped a serial winner like Ancelotti.

He looks like he's stumbling around in a fog of confusion at the moment wondering whether the kings ransom he's being paid is enough to cover the repuatational damage he'll incur by being associated with the club and its in-built capacity to fail.

therein that post, you are laser-like analytically precise : much of my posting on this forum parodies the interminable malaise afflicting the psyche...the very existentiality of this club...and the terminal consequences of such. Everton is a hollowed-out shell of its former self...a self-parody. And who am I to deny it, its own self-deprecating black humour?...I just play along with it. I do parody quite well.

Comparing seasons is perfectly normal and the thread was made when we were top 4 (like we were under Martinez)

Agree and it ended with me thinking to just needed a bit more time for some of the younger players to mature rather than some significant recruitment which it currently looks like.
