Well, it wouldn't be reverse xenophobia, no, because there's nothing country specific about what i'm saying. The point is that many pundits are xenophobic when it comes to football. The idea that foreign players dive, don't have the heart of British players, might not turn up on a wet night in Stoke etc.Isn't it just reverse xenophobia to wave such qualities away out of hand though?
I'm not knocking Dyche, and think he's done a good job at Burnley. I personally wouldn't go for him as our manager but can certainly see why he would be seriously considered. I was more countering the idea that ex players considered Dyche a better appointment (something i'm not entirely convinced as actually true anyway from what I've seen) by saying that it isn't necessarily because of any footballing insight they have, more that it fits their pre-conceived idea of what is best in this situation.
