Isn't it just reverse xenophobia to wave such qualities away out of hand though?
Well, it wouldn't be reverse xenophobia, no, because there's nothing country specific about what i'm saying. The point is that many pundits are xenophobic when it comes to football. The idea that foreign players dive, don't have the heart of British players, might not turn up on a wet night in Stoke etc.

I'm not knocking Dyche, and think he's done a good job at Burnley. I personally wouldn't go for him as our manager but can certainly see why he would be seriously considered. I was more countering the idea that ex players considered Dyche a better appointment (something i'm not entirely convinced as actually true anyway from what I've seen) by saying that it isn't necessarily because of any footballing insight they have, more that it fits their pre-conceived idea of what is best in this situation.

True.

Though the ones I'm talking about are Evertonians (Reidy, etc) who have mentioned Dyche as possible. They get the club. It's not some div like Merson.

I'm not saying he's my first choice, and Tuchel would be great, but we can't pretend he doesn't have a fair few faults that may not be worth risking it for given the current state of the squad.
Yeah I get what you're saying, but again - with the greatest of respect to Reidy - it's hardly surprising that he would plump for a Dyche type considering the type of player and manager he was himself.

I'm certainly not saying we should definitely go and get Tuchel, I honestly don't know enough about him to say he'd be the answer, same with Fonseca etc. I think this is going to be a very difficult appointment, with pros and cons to all the different approaches we could take. I don't envy the decision makers at all because this absolutely has to be a good call.

We are in relegation zone, Tuchel may need time to adapt and settle down in premier league and need time to familiarize our players, I don't think we have much time to waste, I don't want gamble at present time, championship is not far away from us, at least this season I don't want gamble.

Can anyone honestly say that a top or highly rated manager would want to join us in the current mess we are in?

Also we have no striker until at least January who can score us the goals we need. Would a manager come here and risk losing their rep knowing goals will be hard to come by? It’s not the most appealing job at present

Sold all our best players and have no big names to sell next summer hense probably a much lower transfer budget

Koeman was the 11th best paid manager in the world. We have lots of highly rated young players and pay better than almost everyone.

I suspect Tuchel may wait until the summer to see if Bayern make a move and if they don't would commit then.

This is the guy we should go for. Took over the mess Klopp left Dortmund in (they were like us this season but even worse, before a 2nd half recovery) and led them to 2 top 3 finishes and won a cup.

He would relish the system we have here and fit it perfectly with our emphasis on young players.

If we offer him a decent package he would be very interested.

Koeman was one of the highest paid managers in the world by us, all the agents of out of work managers would have been in touch a few weeks back to let us know their clients are interested.

Spot on this.

That was the problem though for me. Koeman came here for money. I never really felt he bought into the “project”

We need someone who wants to be here not just for the money but who believes we can push the top six

We gave played 9 games ffs

We aren't in danger of going down right now. We could draw all remaining games and probably stay up.

So a manager has plenty of time to adjust, in fact another 2 months before the relegation battle is solidified

Couldn't agree more with this.... people saying we are in a relegation battle... we are 3 points off mid table with only nine games gone ffs

No that's true. I think that's more of a danger with Ancelotti than Tuchel though.
