That's your opinion mate and you could be as right as I'm wrong. It's a perception thing.
For my money's worth I've been on here since day one so I've watched it grow. There's been the usual spats and kick offs as I presume you get in most forums and I've been a tit as much as anyone in them sadly.
The people who run the site and mod it for the most part have known each other for over eight years and been of the general same sound disposition. There would be no issues in an older poster being banned or pulled right in if they had been nasty or cruel to a new poster. And is right, I wouldn't post here if it was otherwise.
It doesn't matter how long you've posted here or how many green or red bars or rep points or title or whatever sh*t you've got under your name. People have always been judged on how sound they post. Even if someone has the complete opposite opinion you could have a decent debate without it turning ugly.
The old rep system helped that. People would come on here and post and get points and they would genuinely like it. I used to do it a lot with sound new posters to encourage them to settle in and post more.
Coach above has a good point about why do we need anything? But it's generally been a good system in rewarding someone who posts sound and punishing someone who just wants to argue and cause trouble.
Sorry to hear of your experience mate. I think with a few tweaks then the old system would suit better.
I hate myself for writing this on a f*cking forurm. I need a life. But I also want to see the place do well as I know those who run it. The rep system was a good system for keeping the atmosphere sound.
Again, in my opinion.

Obviously it goes without saying that Chico gets turned red if the new 1 point system comes into effect, unsurprisingly it wont be the first time he's had 100 members turn him red.
Fuming this didn't exist.
You say there wouldn't be a problem with older posters getting banned but Stend reckons he was being negged 5000 points at a time so that poster must of been a older poster , do we know if that person or persons have been banned .
Just asking like .
I think if the admistors exposed who voted for the old rep system it would be majority old forum members/forum supporters. I truely believe that.
I also disagree with the rep system being completely about how you post. It's not. It gets personal, it has been personal and I've been on the recieving end of it. I don't think you've walked at -38000 points like me. To me even if I had talked crap. Having a neg rep of that amount isn't slowing on the quality of my posting.

I have just been to the arcades in New Brighton and found a tuppenny nudger fruity..If we are really honest with ourselves, we all need to get a life
"What did you do today mate?"
"Posted on a forum about reputation, you?"
Here's the problem. No that poster isn't banned and we all know who he is. We fell out in a debate over Mancini, since then I was just bombed by him and his mates. There was somebody else negging me 1000 at a time. Not sure who.
It was purposely put out in the main forum where every could vote mate, to prevent it being just upgraded members. So we can only take it at face value.
With all due respect mate you can come across as a bit abrasive when anyone disagrees with you. Again respectfully. I'm not saying you should have received that level of neg points.
No, it's fair to ask. I suppose it would depend. Neg repping someone isn't something wrong within itself so if someone disagreed a lot with his posts and left a neg rep and they have a lot of points then there's no wrong.
That's why I think the points system should be scrapped and you should only be allowed to give one positive or negative point only.
Wait, wasn't it me who argued with you over mancini?
Tbf, I was definately right on that one.
