Cahill is one of the players that can say that he lived up to the motto Nil Satis Nisi Optimum. He gave his all and did his best at all times. He forged a decent career with his talent and attitude here, at Millwall and internationally. He may not have been as divinely talented as Messi or Ronaldinho, but very few are. He accomplished his potential and not many can say that.Cahill not fit to lace Duncan's boots in my opinion. I get he gave it a go but for me at least was never someone I could take to. You're right he showed a bit of fight and determination but we were a pub team in those days that suited his limited ability.
Jeffers had all the skill in the world but wasted it like nobody's business. I remember at the time thinking he'd be our Fowler for a decade. Such a shame. On that basis though - all the skill plus a tough story of how it can be frittered all away - isnt he the perfect coach for our younger ones?
As for being a coach, I think he has that in him too. Might not be here, but I can see him doing well wherever he ends up. Good luck to him, and I wish him success.
