Tim Howard

He's still consistently standing six yards off his line when shots are coming in from outside the box. It's madness. Especially since the bugger won't come out for a cross. He's doing it all the wrong way around.
I think its because his head is on upside down

Let's get it right now. Howard was incredibly hyped up after the last world cup, he performed 'miracles' against Belgium (although most of the shots he saved he should of kept out). The twitter-sphere went off on one again, #ThingsHowardCouldSave and all of that malarky.

Since returning, he has been utter gash, those who remember Richard Wright in the 02/03 season can probably see the similarities. A goalkeeper that's overconfident, overhyped and overcooked. He swaggers around in that box like he's Buffon and it's rubbing us up all the wrong way.

He's 35 years old, even by goalkeepers standards that's old. I think it's time we ship him out while we can. His distribution is poor, his shot stopping is below par and his communication of the area in dead ball situations leaves much to be desired.

He offers very little, bar a body on the line and even some of his decision making and postitioning in questionable, i dont think its a coincidence every time he stands up after a conceding he looks a wally. I dont like how he looks around as if its someones elses fault either.

His time is up, i never thought he was good enough, but for me hes become increasingly arrogant over the years with a false faith in his own ability.

I noticed this too ridiculous.

No surprise our most consistent period of this season was when he wasnt in goal.

Theres obviously more problems contribuiting to this season but hes a big part of why we're not at least solid at the back

I disagree with the notion that he wasn't at fault for the first goal. Ultimately it was Stones' fault Giroud was able to get a shot away but if Howard had either a man on the back post or correct positioning then the shot doesnt go in.

Actually our most consistent period came between the Utd defeat and the Spurs deafet were we picked up 11 points out 15 on offer.

It's Martinez and the coaching staff who decided if we do or don't have players on the post at corners, he sets the team up on how we defend set pieces not Howard.

But you're right a player on the back stick would have preventd that, but it's not Howards fault.

arsenal goal.webp

He doesn't command his box at all... though Giroud did make the six of them look useless on this.

I do believe also that he is standing too far off of his line. Anything that dips or is deflected over his head can go in as he is not able to recover.

I don't believe that he is singlehandedly the cause of our poor form , but he certainly is playing his part and I feel that Robles should be our no. 1

Of course its up to the keeper to put a man on the post, and his positioning was [Poor language removed]

You're wrong. A manger decideds how a team defends set pieces not a goalkeeper. Howards always had a player on the post why would he suddenly decided he doesn't need one now after 8-9 years. It's the manager and coaches decision, like if they choose whether we mark man for man or zonal.
