2024/25 Tim Iroegbunam

I like Garner playing in Everton’s midfield, I just think we’re a better side with him in. I’m hoping he plays far more this season.

Then for me it’s one of Iroegbunam or Mangala to go with him. We seem to look more solid when Doucoure plays but he’s terrible on the ball and hopefully he’s gone by the end of the season so we could do with phasing him out.

Giving extensions to the likes of Doucs has to stop. Garner and Iroegbunam should be starting by Xmas.

Its great to have options again. Armstrong also could come good .. strength in depth is huge. At the moment when Beto comes on for DCL Its like we have thrown in the towel .. Chermiti and Broja back will be a real positive for depth there as well ..

Unfortunately stats can be easily abused intentionally or unintentionally, and way too much credit is being given for 2 poor performances. Lampard was sacked 18 months ago, and since then Doucoure has played almost every match:

In 22/23 we did not win a single Match with Doucoure playing for 7 months. Not until February 4th. The points with and without him were negligible at best that year.

In 23/24 he only missed 6 matches, two against Man City, two against Tottenham. Not only that, but our entire midfield was devastated at that point in time as we also did without Gana, so that Gomes and McNeil had to play as CMs. One shouldn't give him credit for missing our toughest matches in the middle of an injury crisis.

If you want to isolate results, his 4 full seasons here have included 3 relegation survivals in 3 straight years. Everyone seems to agree he looks poor, and our results are really poor with him.

In 2003 he scored 11 goals, granted split over two half seasons.

Last season he was our joint top goal scorer in the league.

We haven’t won a PL game without him in almost two years.

Since dropping back into the engine room we’ve brought home 4 points from two.

There is statistical anomalies and there are trends in terms of impact and effectiveness mate.

Must be why Dyche likes picking him, does make me wonder then why he picks Keane whenever he can also as the stats show a very different picture there

Could also argue that we would have won one this season if Dyche hadn't taken off Ndiaye for Doucoure like....

I find the concept fascinating to be honest, the eye test vs effectiveness. Catchers analogy is very interesting.

Many people often think football is a game of attacking, creativity, possession etc and aspire to it or weigh substational worth on it.

Football has always been and will always be however a game of balance.

As someone said above, players know the wroth of someone like Doucoure.

I’ve always had a bit of time for Keane if I’m honest, maybe more compassion then anything, I feel he’s a very good footballer but struggles with the mental side of the game and that undermines him.

That said he’s had seasons here he’s been a starter and at times been part of some of the meanest defences in the league in those seasons, him and Zouma stand out under Silva, he was excellent under Carlo as well. He’s qualified and played in Europe for this club, he’s also earned England caps playing here. Hes a player we will move on from - but he’s contributed here and personally I don’t ridicule players who have, well not much anyway .

I don’t think you can blame Bournemouth on one player to be fair mate.

Though I’d be critical of him that day, he was to keen to get into the attacking action.

Certain,y part of the cluster F, but many others guilty as well.

Mate he's been absolutely diabolical for us for years, the stats prove so

Credit to his longevity if nothing else!
