Times article, Burnley/Leeds threaten to sue Everton

But what accounting year.
We could also potentially pay them £0, we could sell him this very summer, if I were a lawyer I’d just come back at you with that. You can’t throw hypothetical scenarios that could happen in the future around in a court of law.
We also dont know what agreement we had with the Premier League.

I mean we clearly spent 1.7m in the summer cos they told us not to take the pee, we then lash "70m" around in Jan.

I dont agree with it, im just playing Devils advocate.

Of all the commentators , all the bloggers , all the nerds who look at these matters The Swiss Rambler is probably considered to be the go to on such matters.
I am not going to re post his comments but I certainly wouldn’t dismiss anything he says because quite simply he Is an expert unlike most, no all of us

I'd be amazed if he had the information Burnley and Leeds themselves don't have as to how Covid impacted us.

As explained above, we received £27m in January and spent that on two players. That’s the cash that exchanged hands. I don’t think they’ll embarrass themselves by claiming we bought Dele Alli for £40m on top of that. I could be wrong, they could be that stupid.

I assume that clubs sign a document, we have a contract with Spurs that says we could potentially owe them 40m.

Im just saying, it could be argued from a legal POV, I mean if I was a lawyer I would go for it.
But in this contract it's entirely within our control how much we pay if anything. So until WE decide to play him in a 20th game the fee is £0.

And we could also point to the fact that we couldnt afford to play Dele for more than 20 games cos we couldnt afford the 10m.

Don’t care for them.

Pipe on about being a “super” club, yet they’ve spent more time out the top flight in the last 60 years than they have in it.

Had a purple patch and had some good teams Over the years, but their delusion is mad.

Had an average attendance of under 30,000 for 13 seasons, when they’re meant to be fantastic fans.

Better than Burnley, but that’s not saying much.

I suppose 3 leagues, 1 FA cup
Isn't great but the European Cup is always going to count in their favour.

They’re a 1 team city, I suppose that’s what happens when you don’t have a more successful neighbour to put you in your place. Their hatred for Man U is pretty laughable

Is this about when we knew we were up against it, accounts wise, so instead of being clever, (yeah I know), like Derby for example, we went to the PL, asked for help/guidance about our plans, and they said "Thats fine, but no real spending for a bit"?

Cos if so, that passed even the Simon Jordan test when he was also presented with the actual facts, after (not surprisingly) assuming we were in the mire.

If so, the clubs should be suing the PL. Which is currently, themselves.
