Times article, Burnley/Leeds threaten to sue Everton

The way I read it that using the £82 million over the two years( averaged out at £41 million ) wouldn’t be enough to ensure compliance

The point you make about DCL valuation is interesting but would such a scenario be factored in ? After all other clubs did extract value out of a depressed market and even then there is no amortised value attached to DCL which further muddies the water
I’m guessing in a case like DCL they may have initially said we’ve lost 20m in potential sales revenue caused by Covid depressing the market, nothing to do with any book value, but on further research, because GoT said he wasn’t arsed and missed that penalty, we’ve actually lost much more.

We have probably comedically shafted ourselves here, as if we sell one of the players we claim we missed profit on for top top money this summer, we will accidentally prove that these un-crystallised losses are overstated.

In 25 years I’ve never done so much work at the weekend. Exhausting. ?
Beer time.

Trying to look at this calmly and objectively for once. As I understand it, the PL have had Everton’s accounts since October 2021. They have been checked over by the league, and also by an outside, independent auditor. Both have signed off on the accounts, and found no breach of P+S rules as they stand now (Everton have also been working closely with the PL on transfers etc to ensure there is no breach). Given these facts the PL cannot surely go back on this now? Any grievance has to be between the PL and the two crybaby clubs over the application of the rules doesn’t it? The PL cannot sign off on our accounts saying all is above board and then 7 months later go back on that and deduct us points, can they? That would surely unleash a terrible president. Unless I am missing a whole lot here (and I may be as I am no expert at all), the issue here is between the crybabies and the PL, not Everton.

Thats the assumption.

Great isn’t it.

Chelsea and City have been dropping £70m on squad players for years, but they bring financial fair play in and we could be getting sued for blowing a load of money in basically one summer.

Wonder if both clubs will write the same letter about Newcastle when they’re flinging money round in the upcoming years?

They’re chancing it. Hopefully a points deduction next year doesn’t damage our title challenge too much.

He might be well respected, but that's not for insight here on this. He simply doesn't know ALL the details of what EFC have said to the PL and what the PL have advised.

Overall, he's down-playing the real story here...if there is one....it's the the PL's conduct.

They have allowed a pandemic related reconfiguration of what constitutes a loss and placed, apparently, no definition of it in terms of a figure.

In what way, shape or form is Swiss Rambler correct to say Everton on the face of it have a lot of explaining to do? The only party with the explaining to do is the PL

Your right in the point about not knowing what had been said but his point is why are Evertons numbers so out of sync ?

The fact that the numbers are on rolling 3 year basis you can bet your bottom dollar if other clubs could inflate their numbers they would yet they haven’t.

This won’t impact the 20/21 season but I don’t agree that it will take an age to resolve it will probably be into next season and even then it’s possible that any decision ( whatever it is ) will go to appeal and even then potentially to CAS
