Times article, Burnley/Leeds threaten to sue Everton

As @catcherintherye stated before about Swiss Rambler: he is a thorough archivist of public domain financial accounts of PL clubs. His niche is to gather and present all the info in an agreeable fashion. But he is not a gifted accountant as far as I know. His analysis is not that of an industry insider, for example.

The Esk is a respected professional in his field. This is his job, so there's no wonder Swiss Rambler has respect for him. The Esk though here is merely stating what is pretty obvious: if Everton have the agreement with the PL over profit and accountability in the pandemic era, then that's pretty much all Everton require.

If Burnley and Leeds and whoever else want to take a stance against that, then that's between them and the PL. Everton cant be collateral damage in that conflict.

The Esk is the ultimate pessimist/realist so if he is not worrying then maybe we can feel confident we will not be badly affected?

Swiss Rambler is a statto who compiles lists. The Esk will know the strength of the numbers. And he'll know - there or thereabouts - how safe the understanding EFC have with the PL is for us.

If he's sanguine at the moment on the issue, I am too.

I know Esk is the subject of some derision but he was correctly drawing attention to our profligacy some time ago and how it would impact us practically. His analysis proved correct not that it wasn't predictable the way we were going. Just there was no audience for any doom mongering as it was seen as.

His further analysis on all of this would seem equally as reasoned. This is a matter between the PL and Leeds/Burnley. The PL has agreed sign-off of Evertons accounts after examination. What follows if anything holds no impact for Everton.

The irony of billionaire megalomaniac football club owners complaining about financial rules being broken

I mean...you are a billionaire and own a football club FFS. What were you expecting, the ragged trousered philanthropists?

I am reasonably sure that Esk was one of two online guys who engaged Simon Jordan when he (SJ) said we would be nuked.

Since then, SJ has been resolute that the accounts, whilst creative, (most are), are sound. IIRC. the actual loss for the PL rulez is in the region of £80m. Way below the threshold for a kicking. And that was done in full cooperation with the PL.

To be honest, my biggest takeaway is why didn't Everton do the same deal as Tottenham for some of our non-playing players?

Or is this a deal done as we realise the position of the sellers?

It suited all 3 parties. Spurs wanted rid, wages I guess. Players value is pretty poor as a proper transfer, and we couldnt stump up any real cash. Lampard most likely knows Deli.

Fitted our accounts, as in, £0.00 in this years fee. Only 19 games left. Player happy to come. Was a creative transfer.
