Times article, Burnley/Leeds threaten to sue Everton

As @catcherintherye stated before about Swiss Rambler: he is a thorough archivist of public domain financial accounts of PL clubs. His niche is to gather and present all the info in an agreeable fashion. But he is not a gifted accountant as far as I know. His analysis is not that of an industry insider, for example.

The Esk is a respected professional in his field. This is his job, so there's no wonder Swiss Rambler has respect for him. The Esk though here is merely stating what is pretty obvious: if Everton have the agreement with the PL over profit and accountability in the pandemic era, then that's pretty much all Everton require.

If Burnley and Leeds and whoever else want to take a stance against that, then that's between them and the PL. Everton cant be collateral damage in that conflict.

I dont want to go into reams of detail, but Esk is very clear that we have not breached rules, and that the PL are very aware of what has been happening.

He has been saying this for some time.

Swiss ramble has taken a line, from an article, and omitted updated context from it.

I mean just to add, Esk has piped him down there completely.

"It doesnt mean they have falsified their accounts" like wtf. Nobody with any degree of credibility in that field even utters such a statement. It's an incendiary suggestion.

This is basically the same as what happened a couple of months back, when rentagob Jordan mouthed off about potential points deductions. Esk easily explained why he was completely mistaken, and Jordan apologised and retracted stating it's not a possibility.

It's very clear who knows what is happening, and who is shouting their mouth off for the enjoyment of thick idiots who will never understand finances.

Ive just read the thread, Ramble called it creative I thought, didnt accuse us of anything really.

One particular area of expertise is his ability to analyse and compare.

Ifyou read all of his recent thread you will see that the Everton numbers dwarf every other club that has reported COVID losses over the two years not just by the odd million but by tens if not a hundred million. Had other clubs likewise been claiming anywhere close to the £170 million it’s pretty obvious there wouldn’t be any issues but just for one second ask why Everton’s are so out of step.
I'm guessing our accountant was on the inhalers.

He has said we have a case to answer, but when presented with evidence from Esk has backtracked to "could have case to answer". He accepts Esks statement that PL have accepted the losses.

If that's the case who is the case to answer too? We have to satisfy the PL. Which has been done. Anything else that arises is on them.

That's up to them to explain. But we are not the only team doing write downs, and other clubs may follow it.

Lots of businesses do write downs. It's not unusual. Even if they are the only ones in the sector doing so. Its standard business practice.

As Esk has said, in a bear market it happens, and assets outside of "blue chips" depreciate more than blue chips. This is all perfectly normal for people who have a bit of understanding of the business world.

But yes, Swiss ramble can make some nice colourful graphs for people who are too lazy to read numbers. That's his crowning achievement.

All this has done is give me a splitting headache today lol reading all the rubbish Some Leeds fans and Burnley fans have said, more than hoping Everton stay up, or even Matty moaning none stop about going down

I'm reluctant to contribute much to this debate, as it's not an area I have any sort of experience in.

But it seems to me that if anything comes from this, the PL will bear the weight of it.

If we've asked the PL if we are in compliance, and they've told us we are, I can't see how we can be liable for any punishment.
