Titanic Tourist Submarine Goes Missing

Thankfully the delay did not matter but can you imagine if it had?

The family of Harding, a British explorer onboard the Titan, criticized OceanGate for waiting hours to alert the coastguard on Sunday after realizing the sub was out of contact.

“It’s very frightening. [It] took so long for them to get going to rescue [them], it’s far too long. I would have thought three hours would be the bare minimum,” Kathleen Cosnett, Harding’s cousin, told the Telegraph.According to the accepted timeline of events, the support ship Polar Prince lost contact with Titan at about 9.45am ET on Sunday, but the coastguard did not receive the first report that it was missing until 5.40pm.

The whole company sounds like a cowboy outfit. No proper testing or validation, sacking the technical director who raised issues, loose cables fitted around the outside, a bleeding games console controlling it, no back up, no fallback…a submersible coffin…I feel so sorry for the families and nothing but disgust for the company. I assume it’s an American company, and how the hell the US authorities have allowed it to trade and put peoples lives at risk without regulation oversight is beyond me…sorry but having overseen the development of nuclear submarines I just cannot get my head around this amateur shitshow……

International waters apparently make it diffucult

Cut regulation! Another half-wit killing people because they think standards are not for them.

Well at least they died instantly with no pain or stress involved.

You say that but my second working theory is that the shell of the sub was a complete success, however after two hours of 'My heart will go on' and the potential for that to go another 7 hours they collectively made the decision to try and sink the sub. What came next was the sheer terror of listening to that five more times while trying to drill, scratch and claw a hole in the side. Thankfully the berk made it out of egg cartons and packing tape and it finally gave way and put them at rest.

Now it's only a small chance that happened but sounds very plausible to me, so I'm keeping it on the table until we hear anything different.

Your ‘jokes’ or digs are in bad taste. Even under these circumstances you cannot help yourself can you. I have no one on ignore as I feel everyone contributes somehow but somehow you never do…..
The heart wants what it wants bud, if this is our conscious uncoupling, it was a rollercoaster of ecstasy and boredom in equal measure.
So long sweet prince, my guiding light, my shining star, my hero true, my gallant knight.

It was but tbh this sub just seems like an accident that was waiting to happen.

I guess if you are in the industry and if you spend a lot of time trying to improve safety/do the right thing and some "innovator" comes around and cuts corners it must be so infuriating, especially when you lose a friend during it.

He seemed shocked that the French pilot had passed away due to his years of experience. You'd think he'd have known better but you never know what money may have been involved.

There's no way that there wasn't enough rumour/negativity for anyone of a sound mind to think "hey, this isn't as safe as it should/could be, so I'll give it a miss".

I was expecting them to say it had done about 20/30 visits to Titanic but it had only done 3 in 3 years.

If this is representitive of what happened they (hopefully) would not known anything about what was about to happen.

Wow, thanks "Khaleed".

I was really struggling to imagine what an object would look like if it was crudely squished together but now I'm sorted. Fantastic scientific animation and totally not just some rat desperately rushing to be the first to get it on Twitter

Show some respect, he oversaw nuclear naval development! That's the king of electronic battleship you're conversing with there!
