Yeah the issue isn't VAR here at all -- it correctly flagged something up so the letter of the law could be followed.

The problem is the new handball rule, which is the single worst rule change I've ever seen. Players will have to start wearing straight jackets.
My guess is they wanted to erase any and all doubt on handball calls in the box, but by god it will affect some games. Really really bonkers

I'm falling out of love with this sport, I really am. The more I watch these days the more I hate it. I think I'd absolutely hate football if I didn't remember what it used to be like. Its such an incompetent and corrupt sport that its ludicrous. There's hardly anything to like about football in 2019.

I get the intention but it's an over the top reaction. Goes against the spirit of the game too, as I am all for intentional handballs being dealt with, but Laporte knew nothing about that and didn't have his arms in an unnatural position either. There's nothing players can really do to counteract this rule change, as a ball can always clip your arm if it's bouncing around in the box, and that's the thing I hate -- it's basically just down to bad luck.

I just feel it’s a copout for officials personally
