Hmmm so Richarlison plays out wide for:

Brazil
Watford
Half of last season for Everton

Scores a few goals in a 442 with DCL in 3 months - EEZ A NO 9 DOH LADZ
You do see the difference in formation though right? You can understand that playing the wing in a 4-3-3 allows him to get into the areas he is dangerous in where playing the wing in a 4-4-2 would prevent him from doing that? Can you see that at all?

Yes but you really dont think Richarlison wouldn't score goals out wide in a 442 when he got 14 goals last season often playing out wide in a 4231?

You could play Christiano Ronaldo up top, out wide, through the middle and he would still bang goals in the best players can net all across the pitch

I agree with you there, I like him on the left because he absolutely bullies most right backs with his pace and strength, also drifting into the box gives him more chance of getting space for headers

Its mad - some of our fans wanted Fellaini up top because he could score.

It isn't just about the goals though. He has had games out wide where he is a legit liability in possession in midfield.

And fwiw I don't think he would score as much out wide.

There is certainly a case to be made for moving him back to a wider spot, just not in a 4-4-2. He can't be stationed that far away from the box.
Agreed, definitely wouldn’t work in a 4-4-2, I’m intrigued to see if we’ll stick with a 4-4-2 though, as unless we massively upgrade in centre mid, as in a few games under Ancelotti we’ve been absolutely overran

I don't think we should, but I'm not sure what the right switch would be. We need new midfielders for anything to work properly.

I wouldn’t mind someone really good finisher to partner DCL

true, the lack of both legs and creativity there is going to kill us in any formation
