I don't think he would take it even if offered it tbh. He seems to be really close with all the girls on the England team and they have a lot of respect for him and vice versa and he has said he wants to take them on to the next tournament so would look a bit of a nob if he just upped and left now tbh.
Yeah i dont think he would leave either myself,The England Women are on BBC 2 v Norway Women for any that want to watch,5pm ko

That's outstanding stuff from Owen to be fair

Totally shown "Super Geordie" Shearer up

Just read this quote on TEF posted by mr.flibble from Owen's book very telling on Newcastle and their deluded fans - apologies if it's already been posted...

"When I got home, I switched on Match Of The Day to watch the game and I could hear Newcastle fans, my fans, singing ‘what a waste of money!’ as I’m being stretchered off.

I can’t deny their actions that day changed things for me. No longer was I even going to attempt to ingratiate myself with the fans. Instead, I flipped it in a slightly more resentful way thinking, I don’t need to justify myself to f ****** Newcastle fans.

Freddy Shepherd came out with the line that he would happily “carry Michael Owen back to Anfield himself”. Being a huge fan of the club also, Freddy was only doing what all the fans constantly do at almost every football club: they believe that their club is ten per cent bigger and that their team is ten per cent better than it actually is.

This kind of blind delusion is especially true of Newcastle United – which, as I reach for the nearest tin hat, is only a big club in the sense that it has a lot of fans and a big stadium.

They’re historically not successful off the pitch, in fact quite the opposite mostly. And they’ve never really won much on it in recent times."

Well done Michael, just by relating that i reckon he succinctly sums up all that is Newcastle and their sadly deluded fans.

One club city, should have be well backed and won a bagful, tbf they get the support but haven't won anything for over fifty years and the title since 1927/28 - 92 years ago. - some big club that is. - they're almost the definition of delusion

A striker has every right to place himself in front of a defender if he can get there first. It is for the defender to then ensure he does not commit a foul. A push in the back of an opposition player is a foul anywhere on the pitch, and in the penalty area, it is a penalty...

Nonsense, there is placing yourself infront of a defender while attempting for the ball, then there is what Kane did, no attempt for the ball, deliberate movement backwards into the defender and then just folding underneath him with barely any contact.

If player A (Defender) is moving faster than player B (Striker) when player B decides to veer into Player A and stop infront of him, there is always going to be contact, by no fault of the defender

Never a penalty

Yes, it's call 'shielding'.

Tell me how a push in the back is not a foul...?

Yup, shielding, like I said, when youre attempting for the ball. As I said, THEN there is what Kane tried, and it was certainly not attempting for the ball, it was attempting for the penalty

Go and look at the clip (probably on Youtube).

And then: tell me that you can push an opponent in the back with both hands and it is NOT a foul!

What kind of football do you play/have you played? Have you ever refereed?

I've seen it plenty, it's not a foul, he backs into the defender and is on his way down before there is even contact. It's a dive plain and simple, trying to be clever about it for sure by trying to initiate contact, but he got it wrong completely and knows it himself im sure. Seen ex professionals say as much too and outright call the lad a diver on discussions about it.

Dunno why you're so protective over Kane, just because hes the national team darling doesn't mean he cant be criticised.

I'm not protective.

A foul is a foul is a foul...

And given the amount of crap spouted by ex-pros in the context of being pundits, do you really set any store by what they say?

Mate he wasn't shielding the ball, he stood in front of him and crumpled - he initiated the contact and threw himself over, it was a blatant dive.

Arsenal defender has his hands on Kane. No other bodily contact at that point.

Bodily contact in the game does not extend to pushing an opponent over. A player moving at speed is easier to push over than a player standing still with both feet planted on the ground.

End of for me. No further replies.
