Today’s Football 2019/20 Season

The 2 things I enjoy most about football are my trips over to Goodison and going to northern Ireland away games.

Looks like I wont be able to do either for months, maybe 2 or 3 years. Watching on tv is not the same. Watching empty stadiums on tv is just completely underwhelming.

Yep. Its a different game being at the ground.

The attraction when I was a kid was the crowd and being at a ground. I was just as excited about being at the front behind the goal as anything else.

Late comers to the game, age wise, probably enjoy it as a TV sport cos thats all they have known.
This will bells on! I usually do enjoy good football on the TV and Dortmund have played some very nice football, but in reality football is nothing without fans.

Nothing beats being at Goodison, or where ever really, and feeling part of the game: the atmosphere; anticipation; the peaks and troughs - all the emotions.

The players themselves feed off that and for me you can see it in this match: Dortmund have been the better team, but the intensity simply isn't there.

We don't bother until things can, somewhat, be relatively normal?
But there’s no roadmap for the right now. It’s impossible to plan for something that has no timeframe. Behind closed doors is a feasible option (for now)...in Germany.

I think people are just happy to be able to watch footy again, I am. After 2 months of monotonous days, it's nice to have a bit of a distraction no matter how bad the games are. I go home/away and would much prefer we all waited till fans could go but no reason to stick my nose up at people for enjoying football being back. Usually watch these games on BT on mute anyway so not being able to hear the atmosphere etc doesn't bother me.

Not to mention if "somewhat relatively normal" takes 18 months there'll be about 10 clubs left.
