So answer why doesn't a striker just do that in a game all the time?

Also...name another time a goal like that had happened?

Also...VAR ruled that the second Ming's touched it, it was the 2nd phase. The attacker getting "onside" doesn't come into it cos he doesn't have to get onside.
The point is, he was anyway!

No point in further discussion. You are not taking in anything I say. You are not interested in discussion, just pushing your own point, and ignoring the facts of the situation.

Second phase. Attacker actually onside. No offside issue. Got it? Didn't think so...

Steady on mucko. Works both ways.

That situation happens to us, I'd be fuming. But it's nice to know some will be happy with it

I doubt any manager would put up with that, especially if the ball was down the other end of the pitch.

I'd be fuming, too, if that exact same play happened against us, but I'd also acknowledge the call was the right one. In fact, my fume would be directed at the defender who got dispossessed trying to play the ball instead of just hoofing it back downfield.

Exactly. Sometimes, an 'alehouse ball' punted 50 yards down the pitch does more good for the team than an England international trying to bring the ball out and not having the spacial awareness to know an opponent is a yard away from him...

  • a player moving from, or standing in, an offside position is in the way of an opponent and interferes with the movement of the opponent towards the ball this is an offside offence if it impacts on the ability of the opponent to play or challenge for the ball; if the player moves into the way of an opponent and impedes the opponent's progress (e.g blocks the opponent) the offence should be penalised under Law 12
Or blame a defender for not leathering it into the stands like a Sunday league player just to be safe or if any player sneaks up behind him.
