Every attacker in an offside position runs back to get himself onside in the next phase of play. That is obvious. As it is obvious that Mings starts the next phase of play WHEN THE MAN CITY PLAYER HAD MOVED TO AN ONSIDE POSITION.

Not sure if it has been said yet, but the offside rule has for a long time been intended to prevent a player from gaining an advantage by being in an offside position. The offside player has begun the process of closing down Mings before he touches the ball, thus still being offside while making a proactive play on the ball.

As we have seen many times before, you don't need to actually touch the ball to be offside, so if he is closing down while offside the flag should go up, in my opinion anyway.

Yeah I didn't even necessarily mean those two just that if there are two candidates now then we will probably see someone close in our lifetimes assuming you're planning on having some years left here.

I wouldn’t say it’s short-sighted at all. Not only are their goals per season numbers unreal they’ve also done it consistently every single year and in Ronaldo’s case well into his 30’s.

People mention Haaland and Mbappe for now and whilst they score a lot they haven’t come close to their season records.
