Not checking facts and then sticking to your guns, even when you’re clearly wrong is what arguing on GOT is all about. You do realise you are on GOT don't you ?

Koff lad.No it isn't
He did not receive it from an opponent he took it from an opponent.I don't agree with the way rules are used but it's clear..
The law, however, states that it can be used to gain an unfair advantage
"A player, in an offside position," the rulebook states, "receiving the ball from an opponent, who deliberately plays the ball, is not considered to have gained an advantage."
Essentially, because Tyrone Mings made an attempt to play the ball, Rodri is seen to not be gaining anything from being behind him. Peter Walton later backtracked on his opinion of the goal, stating that it was a "good goal".
To address the specific point you made about Rodri closing down Ming's before he'd touched the ball, you aren't normally given offside until you actually interfere by touching the ball, at the time Rodri touched the ball, he was deemed by the above rule to be onside.
It's a law that's taken advantage of and used to gain an advantage by purposely standing in an offside position but it's the law as it stands.
Peter Walton seemingly always agrees with every decision the prem refs make whether correct or incorrect and as with most on LFCTV (BTsport) is actually clueless himself, changing his mind was embarrassing. - Why do BT go out of their way to recruit Dumb and dumber? - They've even had Chris Foy in the past.
I reckon this needs its own thread,, but would be pointless because there are two camps not silling to budge.I've addressed everything in severalposts in this thread - perhaps you haven't read them all.
It's not about the ball in the air heading towards Mings. It's about Mings controlling the ball and moving on - that is then another phase of play. At that point, Rodri is onside and quite justified in involving himself in play once again.
Mings was NOT closed down from an offside position by Rodri. I've posted this up a couple of time before, but I'll post it up again here for you.View attachment 114885
Take a look at the position of the two full backs. The reference point is the cut of the grass just infront of Mings and Rodri. The two full backs are clearly closer to their own goal line than Rodri. Therefore Rodri is onside and able to become involved in play again. The linesman/referee's assistant is perfectly positioned to see it all, also. Perfectly valid goal.
That figure includes domestic & international friendlies. His official figure is lower than Ronaldo's.
The only player claiming to have beaten that is the Czech striker that scored most of his goals in the Czech league whilst all the decent players and fit men were in WW2.

Oh so someone else has also scored that many goals?
Wow you really know everything and nothing at the same time.
Maybe stick to Energy drink FC.
"Claiming to."
But you're throwing RBL at me now for some reason so I guess we take that as the death knell for you.
You came, you tried, you got conquered.
WELL NEVER SEE ANYONE BREAK THAT RECORD*
*despite the other players that have a better record
Mate your on crack.
But no one has a better record, hence it being a record? The clue is in the word 'record'.
Its not even 5am here and its time for
Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Romario, Pele - who are the top goalscorers in football history? | Goal.com
Goal looks at where Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi rank compared to Pele and Co. when it comes to the question of best goalscorer of all time...www.goal.com
Messi and Ronaldo arent even first!
WowzersHowever as you're Australian and it's 4am I think we'll call it a day as I'm just feeling sorry for you now.
Ronaldo is first since they haven't yet proven Bican's record and, as I said earlier, he scored all his goals whilst the Czech league was crap due to WW2 military call-ups.
If you'd have said "I think someone might beat Ronaldo one day" then that would have been fine and an opinion but you deciced to argue that Maradona (nowhere near) and Pele (hasn't beaten Ronaldo's whilst only playing in Brazil & USA) are somehow reasons to believe someone will beat him. Completely forgetting we're now in a new century, players don't play as long and they're also not playing against a bunch of tillers.
The only way someone beats Ronaldo's record in the modern game is if it's somehow Messi or if we send Haaland to the Latvian league.
