No, I think Lukaku has played brilliantly today. Best I've seen him for years. Been responsible for about four or five decent chances and involved heavily in the build-up for both goals. In a big game no less. Fair play to him.

But Lautaro is just outstanding. He'd walk into nearly every team in world football.
The football hipster thing where Lautaro is better than Lukaku even though Rom outscores him season on season while being important to Inter's buildup too is amusing to me. No need to overthink this. And that's not to say Martinez isn't a great player.

It's like when people say Mane is more important to the RS than Salah.

I'll vault you in a few years... Lautaro will play for Barcelona/City/Madrid/PSG in the near future and have one hell of a career. It's not even a criticism of Lukaku from me to praise Lautaro; he's just one of those extra special players. Even if I thought Lukaku was 'very good' (which admittedly I don't), Lautaro is a class above 'very good' and is nowhere near his peak.

I agree Lautaro is probably not at his peak but I'm not talking about who is going to be better in 2027, I'm talking about who is right now and it is Lukaku.

again, with that squad it is

they've actually lost fewer games than Leeds have

Their squad isn't a trainwreck like people make out.

Keeper plays for PSG, Real Madrid and has France caps. Aina Nigeria RB, Robinson played for USA, Andersen played for Denmark, RLC once England's new hope, Lemina and Anguissa internationals, Mitrovic proven PL scorer.

I agree, they've got largely decent players and though I do think Parker has done ok to get them into a coherent team with a lot of new faces coming in it isn't some over the top achievement to be not totally relegated at the end of February.
