Today’s Football 2020/21 Season

City just look a side who's best days have gone, others don't fear them anymore and know they can always score against them. It just looks as though the methods that worked a few years ago are becoming outdated.

Pep will go on about possession stats, he always does, his usual refrain of we dominated they hardly had any chances and scored everytime, is wearing a bit thin it's not all about possession.

Having just signed that two year extension, you’d imagine he’ll be getting a hell of a lot of money to rebuild them again.

I'm not really arguing that, just that it gets framed differently depending on who it is actually doing it. If we went to City and did it no one would be talking about how smart Carlo is I don't think.
If we did it as well as Spurs just did, they would be.
But this is a nontopic because we wouldn't defend that well.

I know it's early and Kane could do his ACL, but with no Champions League to worry about and given a large slice of luck with Kane staying fit, everyone's yesterday's man with outdated techniques and now all washed up, could be just on the verge of being the first manager to take the premier league title bsck to the new Tottenham Stadium. (just needs to give the Europa the sidestep and play the reserves)

Yesterday's man becomes tomorrow's best manager?

Arteta08 was at the peak of his powers, in 2009 whilst we got a cup final, he was mainly injured and yes I know we lost, but that was our last "good" season for me. Of course Bobbys first season was more recent, but I was older and Everton had beaten me.
I just find it a weird choice of name because he manages a rival now and he's also the managerial equivalent of Sam Allardyce with an exotic name.

I still think at some point teams will figure out that Kane is going to go short and Son is going to run in behind. I'm not sure what that leaves Spurs with for scoring goals if teams stop that one as I swear it is about half of them so far.

Pep's never done defence just throws money at it. Because they've been so much better than the rest they've never had to rely on it and have never been exposed domestically until recently.

In Europe it's a different story, since leaving Barca he couldn't match his immediate predecessors European achievements at Bayern, not even getting near, and has yet to even match Pelligrini's semi final achievement with City, a real failure for him.

Domestically the same weaknesses are finding him out and any fear factor long gone.

I think Harry Kane is a real player, with him fit, a ticking Son and Bale up to speed they'll always be a threat going forward

Not convinced Gabriel Jesus is the level City need - certainly not at the moment.

When it's not working they don't have another option/focal point of attack.

Dzeko was a very good option for that for them.

I don't think City will be champions again under Guardiola.

What did they have before? Tevez, dzeko, aguero and balotelli all at the same time, or something like that. They used to have four really good strikers, but like you say, massive drop off from those days to now having jesus and i don't even think they have a 3rd choice striker

I agree with that, I'm just saying right now they've scored a lot of goals with a similar movement of players and I kind of hope opponents recognize that specific threat sometime soon.

They still haven't 'recognised' how to deal with Liverpool yet even though they have been playing this way for over three years. I think Spurs have a great chance to win the title this season. They're superb in attack with many options. Best squad depth in the league and a manager out to prove a point.
