They're getting a free shot from 12 yards in a 6ft goal. It's already hard. The idea of stepping off the line stacks an unfair advantage to the player about to get a ball blasted at him is stupid IMO.

Of course players shouldn't be able to block shot or crosses with their arms. Most players don't...it's usually leathered at them from 2 yards, they're not even looking at it, they're sliding/running... basically doing anything to not stop a ball with their arms.

And no, these aren't laws that weren't enforced. They're laws that are now being re-interpreted, calculated, measured, reviewed, zoomed in, frame jumped, and replayed in as many speeds as you want. This additionally doesn't provide consistency either.
In all my years of watching football and the many injustices that have happened and calls for change, not once have I ever heard someone say "you know what, we should make penalties even harder for goalkeepers"
Its an absolute nonsense rule.

What makes it worse is we rolled over for this lot and took it right up the backside.

Should have been leaving one on Penandes and bullying their back line all game.

God I hate our squad of cowards.
When we pass back and forth in our own half all the time it just hands the initiative to the opposition, We should have attacked Man U and Newcastle, instead we acted as if they were supermen and surrendered to them.

How I wish the fans were in the ground for that game - our lads deserved absolute dogs abuse letting that bucktooth cheat officiate the game whilst we did nothing but timidly pass the ball around aimlessly.

The goalkeeper coming off the line law is quite literally the same as it has always been but just actually called now. There is really nothing else to it even if you want to act like because sometimes it is close they've changed how it works.

The WBA player doesn't put his arm up by his face he doesn't block it with his arm. Simple. It doesn't even matter how close to the ball he is or whether it was hit hard or not.

RE - Penalty. Never debated that. I just said it was a stupid rule because I personally don't feel it effects the penalty taker. Additionally it's a rule that's got a boost from VAR intervention who can pin point a split second for a foot being an inch from the goal line to be deemed "infringement".

If you mean that VAR is re-enforcing rules that weren't enforced before...then I guess you feel it's working a treat.

RE - Handball. He turned his back and his arm was at his chest before the ball was locked at him. The player didn't use his arm to intentionally block the ball or have it in a unnatural postion. That common sense factor for the ref to use but can't now due to the changes in rules and VAR.

Too right, handball was brought in to stop players intentionally sticking their hand out to stop shots, crosses etc. It honestly only needs to be that simple, it's easy for everyone to understand. Yes, you'll get refs who think it's intentional when it's not, but that's sport, you should only give it even its obviously intentional.

It is so so simple as a resolution, the game is run by absolute idiots who have no idea about the game.

Replays also can make handballs look more intentional the more they're watched.

No, Barak Obama has had his nationality questioned not his age. Maybe you're just not really aware of the long-term issue football has had with African youth players. It's why, for years, they did so well in youth international tournaments.

He's got a birth certificate from Cameroon. I've also seen a football documentary where a Nigerian man had his own death certificate hanging above his desk.

Joseph Minala was the last player that was notably investigated. 17 this lad was touted at

Yup we had it with Yakubu, Okocha, Kanu, Obafemi Martins (I think) admitted his age was wrong etc.

Didn't Moyes get in trouble with a comment about Yak's age?
His future for the national team has been placed in doubt on numerous occasions after separate incidents of controversy. In August 2006, the Nigerian FA (NFA) website had his date of birth down as 1 May 1978, which would have made him 28 years of age rather than 21. The NFA soon confirmed that it had been an administrative error and apologised for the confusion it had caused. However Martins threatened to quit playing for the national team after the blunder had initially put his move to Newcastle in doubt.
