Bottle throwing happened at a Marseille game couple of weeks back. Got suspended but then finished.
Now you say it I vaguely recall. There has to be real punishments handed down for this kind of stuff; I’m already bored to tears of the “oh, how we’ve missed fans!” rhetoric. In the few weeks they’ve been back we’ve had booing of national anthems and taking the knee, racist abuse and this. And that’s just the stuff caught on camera/reported.

Problem is it hurts the clubs finances to ban fans but something needs to happen. No way they can just find all the culprits in that chaos.

They made a similar point in the “Malice…” documentary about how it hurts financially to ban fans. I get it but, as you say, the only way this minority gets weeded out is if the rest of the fans feel incentivised to call them out and that happens by the lot of them getting banned if stuff like this happens.

Either that or a good chunk of that revenue gets spent on fancy surveillance equipment but then I assume all that happens is the thugs get squeezed out into lower/regional leagues rather than away from the game altogether.

They’ll come out with a statement next week saying they’ve found the perpetrators and banned them for life. Whether that’s believable or not remains to be seen.
